Peyton Hillis gets Madden NFL12 cover, prevents PETA boycott

Members of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals will now be able to play Madden NFL 12 with a clear conscience. Cleveland Browns runner Peyton Hillis won fan voting to appear on perhaps the most well-known cover in gaming, defeating Philadelphia quarterback Michael Vick.

ESPN’s SportsNation made the announcement April 27, 2011 with Vick and Hillis on hand. PETA had already voiced its displeasure with Vick, who went to federal prison for his role in a dogfighting ring, being included in the voting.

Michael Vick and Peyton Hillis face off in Madden cover final vote

Despite the protests of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, admitted dogfighter Michael Vick is one round of voting away from the cover of Madden NFL 12.

The Philadelphia Eagles quarterback will battle Cleveland Browns running back Peyton Hillis for the honor of appearing on the cover of the league’s only licensed football game. Hillis plays for the unheralded Browns so Vick is not only in the finals but could be considered the favorite.

Michael Vick makes Final Four in fan voting for Madden NFL 12 cover

Are EA Sports marketing employees allowed to vote for the Madden NFL 12 cover? Because a few are probably uncomfortable at the thought of Michael Vick adorning the cover of the world’s most popular football game.

For the second straight year, EA Sports is allowing fans to vote for the cover athlete. Michael Vick has made the semifinals of the vote after his football rebirth in Philadelphia. A large number of football fans have forgiven Vick for his involvement in dog fighting but many animal activists haven’t.

Vick will join Madden after all (with a player rating of 73)

No sooner than I write that Michael Vick isn’t in the Madden NFL 10 roster update, the Philadelphia Eagles sign him and end all the speculation.

EA game designer and ratings czar Donny Moore said Vick will don an Eagles uniform in the August 19, 2009, update for PlayStation Network and Xbox Live. Moore talked with the First Cuts blog about re-integrating Vick into the world’s bestselling football game.

Vick will not be included in first Madden NFL 10 roster update

EA game designer Donny Moore answered one of the big questions among Madden faithful on his Twitter: Former NFL star Michael Vick is not included in the game’s first roster update. Vick is still trying to find a new NFL team after his release from prison on charges connected to a dogfighting ring.

“It’s official,” Moore tweeted. “Michael Vick not in Madden NFL 10 Roster Update #1… once he signs with a team, we will get him in there ASAP.”

There has been much speculation about how EA Sports would handle the Vick situation…
