Rumor: This Is Vegas has been cancelled
We first reported on This Is Vegas over two years ago. Things were different back then. Midway was still in business, the iPad was a pipe dream and Facebook games weren’t nearly as popular as they are today. However one thing hasn’t changed – This Is Vegas was never released. The game has been barely mentioned at all over the last two years and probably won’t be getting much press in the future.
The Mortal Kombat game that never was
MK: Fire & Ice never went into full scale production because of time restraints and budget concerns. The game was being developed by Paradox, the team behind MK: Shaolin Monks. The plan was to complete production on Fire & Ice after Shaolin Monks shipped. It would have been the second game to focus on cooperative play between two Mortal Kombat characters.

Midway Games’ final liquidation plan approved
A piece of gaming history is now officially gone as a US Bankruptcy Judge approved Midway Games’ liquidation plan May 21, 2010.
As is generally the case when companies go bankrupt, Midway’s creditors will have to settle for pennies on the dollar. Midway’s unsecured noteholders will get less than 16.5 percent of the debt owed them and unsecured credit holders will get about 25 percent.
C2E2 2010: Arcade DLX showcases home arcade systems
Arcade DLX, a company that makes and sells home arcade systems, showcased it’s work at C2E2 2010 at booth 1334. If you have ever wanted to own your own arcade system, one that can house many games instead of just a few, then this is one company you’ll want to check out.
The Arcade DLX arcade machines look just like those old machines you used to stand in front of for hours at the arcade. (You probably still do!) Each system runs off of Windows XP, which means you can add as many games as will fit on the computer…
Several classic Midway titles pulled from Xbox Live Arcade
A bevy of old school Midway arcade games have been pulled from Xbox Live Arcade due to publishing rights and ownership issues.
Cyberball 2072, Defender, Paperboy, Rootbeer Tapper, Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3, Robotron, Joust, Gauntlet and Smash TV are all gone from the arcade’s title list. As with any title pulled from the marketplace, you will still be able play them or re-download them if you already purchased them.
Rumor: Mortal Kombat 9 will be rated M and contain violent fatalities
Midway Games may not be doing so well financially these days but the Mortal Kombat series isn’t going down without a very bloody fight. For the record, Mortal Kombat 9 is currently being developed and the series creator Ed Boon is being quite vocal with the details on his Twitterpage.
What we know is that Mortal Kombat 9 is returning to the form we all remember it as – very, very violent. Boon says MK9 will not have any superheroes and will answer fans’ pleas to have another Mature rated MK game. Currently, the developers are motion capturing fatalities, and Boon is wondering if they are taking it a little too far…
Midway initiates Section 363 process, Warner Bros. expected to bid
As we know, Midway is bankrupt and selling it’s assets to the highest bidder. Midway announced on May 21, 2009, that it entered into a “stalking horse” asset purchase agreement with Warner Bros. Entertainment Inc. and filed a sale and bid procedures motion with the Bankruptcy Court to conduct the sale of the Company’s assets pursuant to Section 363 of the United States Bankruptcy Code. In other words, Warner Bros. is looking to bid on the company.
A “stalking horse” is a person who tests a concept with someone on behalf of an anonymous third party. If the idea proves viable and/or popular, the anonymous figure can then declare their interest and advance the concept with little risk of failure. If the concept turns out to be terrible, the anonymous party can either drop the idea completely or wait until a better moment for launching an attack.

More on Midway’s Chapter 11 filing, bondholders’ objections
Cash-strapped Midway Games couldn’t fight the financial realities any longer, announcing on Thursday (Feb. 12, 2009) it is filing Chapter 11 bankruptcy. The move became a foregone conclusion when Sumner Redstone, who had kept the company afloat with his fortune, ran into financial trouble and had to sell his controlling interest for $100,000 to investor Mark Thomas.
That move triggered clauses in Midway’s debt agreements that allowed its noteholders to demand payment now. Midway doesn’t have the money, making it necessary to file for bankruptcy. The company has $240 million but a market valuation of only $14.8 million. I’m no financial wizard, but none of that is good.
A group of Midway bondholders filed an objection to the bankruptcy proceedings on Friday (February13, 2009)…
