The Dragon’s Secret by Lyra Trice Solis is the first Adventure Quest book based on the online RPG series of the same name. We follow the story of John Black, a young man who accidentally discovers he’s a light mage after a local bully pushes him too far. Unfortunately, he can’t quite control his powers. So his family sends him to live with a local sorcerer who trains him to read and control his abilities…

LEGO today sent out an email to media explaining that, despite relatively good reviews and 2 million players, the company has not been able to make enough money to sustain its MMOG, LEGO Universe.

The company also announced that, as a result, it will be letting 115 employees go.

From the press release it sounds as if the company is instead focusing efforts on other games. LEGO Universe launched Fall 2010 with a limited trial followed by a paid monthly subscription required to play. It recently switched to a freemium model, allowing anyone to play for free but with additional items and extended content costing real money.

If you’re paying a $14.95 monthly subscription to play Star Trek Online or, heaven forbid, were one of those people who paid $299.99 for a lifetime subscription, you really should sit down and take some deep, calming breaths before you continue reading.

Star Trek Online is going to be turned into a free-to-play MMORPG…

There are a lot of pay-to-play MMORPGs out there that end up alone and forgotten by players simply because people figure its not worth paying to play when there are so many similar, free-to-play games out there. Normally, when Amazon reduces only one video game for it’s Deal of the Day sale, it isn’t anything to get worked up about. It’s usually only 10% or 20% off. That didn’t happen with today’s Rift sale. The Trion Worlds MMORPG is experiencing a drastic, one day price drop today (July 18, 2011). The price has been slashed by 80%, making it only $9.99. Not only that, but the collector’s has also had it’s price sharply cut, and you can get it for $17.99.

Think of Amazon’s Rift deal like this. Normally, buying the game at Amazon would cost you $49.99 for the standard edition or $79.99 for the collector’s edition. By getting it for $9.99 or $17.99, you can spend that additional $40 or $62 on paying for Rift subscription fees…

While it’s nice to read about import games, sometimes it’s also a little sad. I mean, you may not have the language skills necessary to play a foreign game. Wizardry is experiencing a bit of a revival. This weekend marks the four-year anniversary of developer Turbine’s The Lord of the Rings Online (LOTRO). Based on J.R.R.
