Microsoft warns of Xbox Live phishing attempts

Microsoft has issued a bulletin on the support page of the Xbox website about possible phishing scams perpetrated through Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. At this time, all of the Xbox Live services such as Xbox Live and the Xbox Live Marketplace are still active. This is just something to be aware of if you are or planning to play MW2 online.

New PS3 Modern Warfare 2 patch hopes to take down hackers

Tomorrow (March 8, 2011) a patch for Modern Warfare 2 will be rolled out all over the world for PS3. This update address some security issues that PS3 players are all too familiar with. It also fixes an exploit on the Fuel map that some players would use to seal themselves inside of a rock. This patch will also be released for Xbox 360 and PC in the future, but PS3 hacking is the biggest concern right now.

PS3 hackers attack Modern Warfare 2

The fallout stemming from the recent PS3 hacks have started to take a toll on Infinity Ward’s CoD: Modern Warfare 2. Last week, it was revealed that MW2 has been targeted and attacked by hackers that have nothing better to do than ruin the multiplayer experience for everyone. Sadly, there is nothing Infinity Ward can do about it.

America lost the war, and I love it

For generations, America has been seen as one of the biggest superpowers in the world. We have the strongest military, the most wealth and have been a beacon of hope for many people immigrating onto our shores. In the videogame world, America has been the victor in war or seen as the world’s last hope. But now that is changing. Recent and future games present the United States as defeated, in disarray and at the mercy of another nation. It’s a change of pace that I for one, greatly enjoy.

Valve gives away Left 4 Dead 2 to banned players

Steam ran into a pretty big problem over the past two weeks. The service had been erroneously banning gamers after they were thought to be cheating in Modern Warfare 2. Steam banned around 12,000 Steam accounts from accessing MW2 much to the surprise of everyone. This meant either there were a ridiculous amount of cheaters on Steam, or something had gone terribly wrong.

Modern Warfare 2 gets “killstreak free” playlists

Infinity Ward is helping its fans through the summer gaming doldrums with two new playlists for Modern Warfare 2. These modes, Barebones Pro and Objective Barebones Pro, remove killstreak rewards and add party chat. Killstreak rewards are awarded to players who rack up a certain number of kills in a row without dying themselves. At the lowest levels they do things such as reveal the locations of enemies. If you get enough kills, you can launch a tactical nuke which, of course, ends the game.

Xbox Live Update for the week of May 29 through June 5, 2010

The biggest release this week is the Resurgence Pack for Modern Warfare 2, the world’s most popular shooter. This is the second expansion for MW2 and sees the return of two fan favorite maps from Call of Duty 4, Vacant and Strike. Just as with the Stimulus Package Maps, these will launch at the controversial price of 1200 Microsoft Points.

After that, It’s time to quaff a root beer, strap on your goggles and jump into the cockpit of your trusty Sopwith Camel to challenge the Red Baron. Snoopy Flying Ace takes the world’s most famous dogfighter that is actually a dog into an Xbox Live Arcade title with nine different modes.

Relive Burger Town with the Modern Warfare 2 soundtrack

Do you remember emerging from the underground cavern in Modern Warfare 2 to a destroyed Washington DC? How about cursing at your TV because you were being shot at by enemies you could not see in the Favela level? Somewhere beneath the levels of frustration was an impressive musical score composed by Lorne Balfe and Hans Zimmer.
