Nier gets to explore The World of the Recycled Vessel in new DLC

Good news for North American and European gamers who wanted to see the younger, more visually appealing version of Nier that starred in the Japanese exclusive Nier: Replicant – he’s appearing in your games too! You have to pay to see him though, as young Nier is part of a downloadable content (DLC) pack called The World of the Recycled Vessel. And he plays a different role in said DLC than he did in Nier: Replicant – he’s a younger version of daddy-Nier, and not alternate brother-Nier.

The World of the Recycled Vessel focuses on Nier’s wife’s diary entries from when she was infected by the Black Scrawl. If you decide to pay the €6.99 or 560 Microsoft Points (€6.51) to download it from the PlayStation Network or Xbox Live, you get…

Nier’s North American release is April 27, 2010

Square Enix is continuing its trend of near-simultaneous release dates with the forthcoming action RPG Nier. The company first announced that Nier, an Xbox 360 exclusive in Japan, will come out April 22, 2010. The latest announcement states that the North American PS3 and Xbox 360 counterparts will be out April 27, 2010. In a neat little twist, Japanese gamers will have to import the PS3 version if they want to play Nier on their systems. That should please Tales of Vesperia PS3 fans who will likely have to resort to importing to play it!

As for Nier Replicant, there’s no news on a North American release. It’s a PS3 exclusive, and the PS3 is region-free, so if you really feel like you need more Nier after playing the game in April, you can always import a copy and find your way through. It comes out April 22, 2010 in Japan…
