Alternate Disk-Tractions: Ninjas vs. Zombies

What would happen if an evil spirit is raised from the dead and decides to turn everyone into zombies? Well, chaos of course. This is exactly what happens in Ninjas vs. Zombies.

One day, a modern sorcerer named Randal decides to resurrect his dead brother Eric, only to find out that he has come back evil and has the ability to steal souls, causing the people to become his zombie slaves. Randal receives aid from his father’s magic book, which tells him that the only thing that can kill the zombies and Eric are, of course, Ninjas. So now that he has turned his three best friends into ninjas, it’s up to them to save the world form the onslaught of zombie minions.

Get a cuddly, handmade mountain ninja for $30

What is it about toy designer Shawnimals’ tiny ninjas that are just so damn cute? Is it their beady black eyes? Their pudgy little limbs? Or their awesome ability to kick some major demon butt? I think it’s all of the above, and then some. Well, if you love miniature ninjas then you may want to hop over to the Shawnimals site and purchase the Ninja of the Month — the wonderfully bearded Mountain Ninja.

Ninjatown to be released for iPhone, iPod Touch

Two years ago an awesome little game on the DS called v was released, with impossibly adorable characters based on Shawnimals’ designs.

While there hasn’t been any word so far of a direct sequel to Ninjatown, the tiny fighters will be making an appearance on iPhone and iPod Touch “any day now” (as the company’s press release states).

The app is called Ninjatown: Trees of Doom! and, judging by the trailer, it looks very different from its predecessor.

Warner Bros. announces Lego Battles (which means Lego Ninjas vs. Lego Pirates)

Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, Hellbent Games and TT Games have announced the Summer 2009 release of the DS game Lego Battles

According to the press release, Lego Battles promises to be a strategy game (with no indication of how much real-time combat there will be) with the “trademark humor and endless customization of Lego.” It will include 90 levels, six stories and combine kits themes Space, Castle and Pirates. Gamers will be able to mix and match 55 different units from all three themes and use 30 vehicles and wirelessly (unfortunately through multicard) battle each other on land, sea and in air.

Looking at the cover there are pirates, little dudes in space outfits, knights, British soldiers and waitamoment.

Could it be?

A frickin’ Lego Ninja and a Lego Pirate on the same game cover?!

Game-themed events help expand Sony’s Home throughout February 2009

If you have a PlayStation 3 and have yet to register or explore HOME, this is the month to do so.

Since Sony’s Home it opened its doors, I’ve been exploring the different things you can do in home besides shopping, chatting with friends and hanging out at the bowling alley arcades (for all the freebies you can unlock playing Ice Breaker, Carriage Return and Echochrome, of course).

Several events have already been started in celebration of Street Fighter IV, Killzone 2, Resident Evil 5, Warhawk and SOCOM.

For Killzone 2, for example, finding a hidden soldier and chatting with him will earn you…

Pirates vs. Ninjas Dodgeball wins at Austin Independent Games Festival

Pirates vs. Ninjas Dodgeball, Blazing Lizard’s forthcoming Xbox Live downloadable game, has been named one of the nine showcase winners at the 2008 Independent Games Festival (IGF). This means that Pirates vs. Ninjas Dodgeball, along with other winners Ashen Empires, Enigmo, FireTeam Reloaded, Glum Buster, Goo!, Mockingbird, Mushroom Men and ToyBox Heroes, will be displayed at the IGF Pavilion during the 2008 Austin Game Developer’s Conference.

Pirates vs. Ninjas Dodgeball was the only downloadable title to be honored at the event. It also was the only Xbox 360 game to be named an IGF showcase winner. As you may recall, Pirates vs. Ninjas Dodgeball is a dodgeball game featuring teams of pirates, ninjas, zombies and robots as they fight through four different arenas, while using special, to prove which group is superior. The game is scheduled to be released in Q3 2008.

Pirates vs. Ninjas Dodgeball gets pirated (probably by Ninjas)

In one of the funniest twists I’ve seen this year, Gamecock Media Group has announced that Pirates vs. Ninjas Dodgeball will be delayed due to piracy. Apparently some villainous scoundrels have already started distributing copies of the upcoming Xbox 360 title. Initial reports suggested that pirates were behind the affair, but recent incoming reports suggest that it was all an elaborate set up concocted by ninjas. Representatives from the robot and zombie teams also participating in the game could not be reached for comment. In response to the theft, Blazing Lizard, the group responsible for the game’s development, will be adding in new material. The events and additions have resulted in the release date of Pirates vs. Ninjas being pushed back to late spring 2008.

Pirates vs Ninjas: Blazing Lizard’s first game will let you decide

The age old question of who is better, Ninjas or Pirates, will be answered in a game of Dodgeball. No, this isn’t another Dodgeball film but an upcoming game created by new developing company Blazing Lizard, which is pretty giddy that its first title has just been picked up by indy producers, Gamecock.
