Nintendo Power suggests Rune Factory 3 is coming soon

Etrian Odyssey III: The Drowned City wasn’t the only DS game announcement discovered via the July 2010 issue of Nintendo Power‘s Table of Contents – Rune Factory 3 was too. It was sitting right between the DS game River City Super Sports Challenge and the DSiWare title Scrabble Slam. So it looks there’s more farming and dungeon crawling goodness headed to the US.

For now, all we know is that Rune Factory 3 is going to definitely be discussed in Nintendo Power‘s next issue, but we can infer details based on what we know about the prior DS Rune Factory games and the Japanese release of Rune Factory 3. For example, Natsume is likely handling the localization and publishing it, since it brought the previous two DS games in the series, Rune Factory and Rune Factory 2 to North America. We can also guess that it’ll probably cost $29.99, since the previous two entries debuted at that price point.

Like the other Rune Factory games, Rune Factory 3 places players in a situation where…

Nintendo Power announces Etrian Odyssey III: The Drowned City

The July 2010 issue of Nintendo Power is quite informative. For example, a quick look at it’s Table of Contents reveals that Etrian Odyssey III: The Drowned City is going to be coming to the US. When? We’re not sure. But it’s almost assuredly coming to us courtesy of Atlus, since the company has handled the previous two Etrian Odyssey DS games.

Like the previous Etrian Odyssey entries, Etrian Odyssey III is a first person dungeon crawler where the player creates a custom party of characters and sets off to complete various missions, while also crafting maps of each visited area on the touch screen. There’s always a massive dungeon to explore and lots of secrets to find.

Etrian Odyssey III: The Drowned City stands apart from the other entries for two reasons. First…

Mega Man 10 will appear on the PS3, Xbox 360 and Wii

Good news for Mega Man fans. Nintendo Power may have made Mega Man 10 sound like a WiiWare exclusive, but Famitsu has just revealed that it’s not. Mega Man 10 will be appearing as a download via WiiWare, the PlayStation Store and Xbox Live Arcade.

Mega Man 10 sends Mega Man, or Proto Man, to save the world yet again. The Robotenza virus is infecting robots, causing them to go mad and behave in unpredictable and violent manners. Even poor Roll, Mega Man’s little sister, has been infected by the virus. Depending on which character you choose to play as, the story will be different.

Famitsu also revealed that Mega Man 10 will have difficult levels. There will be an easy mode for players (like me) who had trouble making it through Mega Man 9. Hurray…

Konami welcomes Wii owners to Silent Hill

In an age where many people are turning away from print media to internet outlets, it’s good to see magazines have some substance and purpose. Thanks to e a leaked issue of the May 2009 edition of Nintendo Power, we now know that the horror series Silent Hill is going to be setting up a summer home on the Wii. Konami is remaking the original Silent Hill for the system under the title Silent Hill: Shattered Memories.

GoNintendo first reported the breaking news, scanning in the magazine’s cover (as seen below) along with some images and also offered up some choice quotes from the issue discussing Silent Hill: Shattered Memories. Apparently this version of the game is what Konami’s Silent Hill: Shattered Memories producer is calling a reimagining…

Cowabunga! New Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles game announced

Ok, this is the one case where the term “Shell-ebration” can be used unironically, and I won’t cringe. Destructoid is reporting on Ubisoft’s official announcement that a new TMNT game is in the works for the Nintendo Wii. According to a very enthusiastic press release, the game will be developed by Super Smash Bros. Brawl dev Game Arts, and is meant to commemorate the Turtles’ 25th anniversary. The few screens look fairly brawler or fighter-like, but the graphics look pretty nice for a Wii title. I know that’s a cliche, but truth is truth.

Predicting the future of gaming mags

With the demise of Electronic Gaming Monthly earlier this month, and the continuing decline of print magazines in general, a lot of industry folks are wondering whether print has much of a future in this tech and news oriented business. Joystiq has a very interesting post up about the state of gaming mags, predicting that the only print magazines that will still be around in a few years are the ones with the support of a large (and lucrative) publisher – like Nintendo Power.

Discover the strongest Belmont in Castlevania Judgement

As depicted in the screen shot from Nintendo Power above, Simon Belmont might just be stronger than Alucard. But who is the strongest Belmont? You’ll have to wait until Fall 2008, when Konami will release the first Castlevania fighting game, Castlevania Judgement on the Wii.

The game was announced in the August 2008 issue of Nintendo Power, which devoted four pages to the upcoming fighter. In the article, Simon Belmont, Shanoa, Maria Renard, Alucard and Dracula were revealed as playable characters and it was announced that subweapons (like the classic holy water, daggers and crosses) would be returning and hearts would still determine how many could be used. The game will also feature wiimote and nunchuk controls, Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection multiplayer, conversations between characters and classic Castlevania music.

Megaman returns to his roots in Mega Man 9

The next issue of Nintendo Power offers quite a revelation – the return of the old-school Mega Man. Apparently Capcom is taking a step back with the Wiiware release of Mega Man 9. It will be like the original Mega Man games, where Mega Man will have to go through levels for each boss before finally meeting the ultimate boss (presumably Dr. Wily).

This leak is thanks to user Syl at The Mega Man Network. Syl posted images from the issue of Nintendo Power that show all of the information on Mega Man 9. While the screen shots are small and a not perfect, they’re good enough to draw quite a bit of information from.

Rumor debunked: Nintendo Power Kingdom Hearts cover a fake

A recent story on Nintendo Wii Fanboy reveals the truth behind the supposed Nintendo Power cover announcing a Wii version of Kingdom Hearts. It seems some internet prankster borrowed an image created by deviantArt artist mandi-chan and photoshopped a fake Nintendo Power issue.

I guess that explains why I wasn’t able to recreate the page by visiting the Nintendo Power subscription site. I was suspicious of it as well, due to the usage of Sora and Roxas to promote a title which would likely not include Roxas.
