Michael Pachter worried about prospects of Zelda: Skyward Sword and the Nintendo Wii

USA Today’s Game Hunters took a look at the slew of upcoming 2011 titles including sequels to Modern Warfare, Saints Row and Uncharted among others. Wedbush Securities analyst Michael Pachter is concerned about Nintendo’s high-profile sequel, The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword. Pachter had harsh words for the game and the publisher.

E3 2011: Fighting evil with Power Rangers Samurai for Wii (video)

I know there’s a new version of Power Rangers back on the air because my son watches it. It was for his sake, then, that I stopped by that station of the Namco Bandai booth this week at E3. They were happy to show it to me, and quite honestly, within a few minutes, I was happy I was playing it. It’s a basic brawler, aimed at the show’s demographic. But it incorporates some unique features to help pull kids into the game.

Review: Mario Sports Mix for Nintendo Wii

http://admintell.napco.com/ee/images/uploads/gamertell/mariosportsmix-box.jpgThis game is too expensive. I suppose that’ll be my biggest complaint. If Mario Sports Mix were priced at $30 as it should be, I could easily recommend it. But $50 for this? Mario is arguably the biggest name in gaming, but it’s not worth $20 thrown onto a mediocre title. Perhaps I’m being a bit too harsh, because the game is polished. Any disappointment you feel with Mario Sports Mix will not come from the presentation, but from how quickly you grow tired of it.

CES 2011: Jerry Rice promoting a football game featuring dogs

EA’s exclusive license with the NFL has led to developers getting creative in making football games. Developer Judobaby has taken that to another level, signing Jerry Rice and his dog, Nitus to star in their own game. Jerry Rice & Nitus’ Dog Football will be a Wii-exclusive (shocking, I know) and is only the first “superstar and their pet” game planned. Rice is the human quarterback for a team of canine players, while Nitus serves as the league commissioner. The league’s teams are battling to win the Golden Fire Hydrant trophy.

Wii exclusive NHL Slapshot tries to revolutionize hockey games

EA Sports is trying something completely different with its Wii hockey offering, NHL Slapshot.

While the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 will get NHL 11 as usual, Slapshot is an experience completely designed for the Wii. It even comes packaged with a 21-inch hockey stick peripheral that attaches to the Wii’s motion controller.

Gamertell Preview: WCG Ultimate Gamer Episode 2

The feuds began instantly in Season 2 of World Cyber Games Ultimate Gamer. Kat and Vanessa have some personal issues, as Kat took her boyfriend a while back. Vanessa promptly began working with Yaz to get rid of Kat. They sent Kat into an elimination match of Tekken 6, but she triumphed. In addition to that, she now knows she’s got a target on her back. AJ wasn’t shy about his crush on Faye, but we’re not sure yet if she feels the same way. Is AJ headed to the dreaded “friend zone?”

NBA Jam free for those who purchase NBA Elite 11

EA Sports’ denials about NBA Jam coming only to the Nintendo Wii never really made any sense. Now EA’s diabolical master plan has been revealed. NBA Jam will be available to PS3 and Xbox 360 owners, provided they pony up the cash for NBA Elite 11. EA’s latest basketball sim will come with a code allowing a download of the arcade b-baller.

Nintendo holding Wii Summer Games 2010

Nintendo is looking for the world’s best players in several of its hit games with a tournament touring the US.

The Wii Summer Games is a 24-city event challenging gamers to do their best in Mario Kart Wii, New Super Mario Bros Wii, Basketball, Bowling and the Hula Hoop mini-game from Wii Fit Plus. Surely you didn’t think there would be a tourney without Wii Fit, did you?

Opinion: Kinect will fail due to the cost

When it was originally brought up the Kinect seemed like it would be a good thing. That was back when it was originally teased as Project Natal with “Milo” demo. Yes, it is something that really does seem like a pretty cool thing to do. And yes, it still seems that way. However, the burden of price will kill the Kinect unless Microsoft and developers figure out a way to actually make the Kinect a desirable product.

A price tag of $150 for an accessory is entirely too expensive…

Nintendo gets legal victory in Dutch piracy case

Nintendo’s ongoing crusade against the manufacturers of R4 cartridges and mod chips just got a big boost. This week a Hague District Court in the Netherlands found 11 online retailers guilty of selling game pirating equipment. A single R4 cart can hold many illegally obtained copies of Nintendo DS titles. Mod chips allow the Nintendo Wii to play copies of games and play games regardless of which region the system was purchased in…
