Preview: Disgaea 4: A Promise Unforgotten for PS3

If you really want to get technical, Disgaea 4: A Promise Unforgotten, is all about the sardines.

Sardines are a kind of fish used as food around the world. (They’re a great source of omega-3 fatty acids!) They’re also the breakfast of champion Prinnies, and happen to be former vampire-tyrant-turned-prinny-instructor Valvatorez’s primary source of food since he decided to stop drinking human blood due to a promise made years ago. That promise made him loose his power and position, resigning him to the position in Hades he currently occupies, with his former werewolf-vassel Fenrich as his only assistant. Though if you ask Valvatorez, he’d just say he’s there working in Hades because of a promise he made the warden and would deny any loss or fall from power….

Review: Prinny 2: Dawn of Operation Panties, Dood!! for PSP

Thanks to Disgaea, the loveable yet weak Prinny has pretty much become NIS America’s mascot. I mean, how can you not love an exploding penguin with a habit of tacking the word “dood” onto the end of most of it’s sentences? It’s guaranteed to make you smile. Just like the premise of Prinny 2: Dawn of Operation Panties, Dood!! will make you smile. Then you’ll start playing it for a few hours and encounter some of the most difficult levels you’ve ever seen in a PSP game. Odds are, you won’t be smiling anymore. Instead, you’ll be filled with an inexplicable desire to best the game and show it who’s boss…

NISA turns Super Dimension Game Neptune into Hyperdimension Neptunia

Console wars are going to come to life on the PS3 next year. NIS America is going to be bringing Super Dimension Neptune to North America as Hyperdimension Neptunia in Spring, 2011. Time to see lots of adorable, often scantily-clad girls attack gigantic monsters.

NIS America taking a chance on Disgaea Infinite

Visual novels still are a niche genre in North America, though games like Heileen, Lux-Pain and even Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor are helping to pave the way. So it’s kind of surprising to hear that NIS America is stepping up to release the Disgaea PSP visual novel Disgaea Infinite in English. But, the company is, and will have the visual novel starring Laharl, Etna, Flonne and lots of prinnies out in May, 2010.

In Disgaea Infinite, you follow a prinny who works for Laharl. This isn’t any ordinary prinny though, he is a prinny with a mission! Laharl was nearly assassinated by someone in his castle, and has tasked this particular prinny with finding out who wanted him dead. You have two special abilities to help accomplish this task, the ability to possess other, familiar Disgaea characters so you can know their inner-most secrets and the ability to turn back time…

Gamertell Exclusive: NISA Press Event: Holy Drunken Shenanigans, Badman!

NISA (Nippon Ichi Software of America) was kind enough to invite Gamertell to attend its Holy Drunken Shenanigans, Badman! event that was held at the Zebulon Cafe in San Francisco, California on May 7, 2009. Inside, there was food, drinks, and video game fun to be had by all.

NISA displayed many of their upcoming titles pending release in the US. The list of playable titles included the event’s namesake Holy Invasion of Privacy, Badman! (Sony PSP), Cross Edge (PS3), Phantom Brave (Wii), and Let’s Zenryoku Hitchhike!!!!!!!!! (Wiiware ). Let’s Zenryoku Hitchhike!!!!!!!!! looks to be a party title where players traverse a board all the while using the Wiimote to flag down passing vehicles, be it such things as beater trucks to cows.

Initially, several key persons involved with the development and production of Holy Invasion of Privacy, Badman! were supposed to be in attendance. However, their travel plans were inevitably canceled due to this month’s flavor of the month also known as the Mexican/swine/H1N1 flu scare…
