CES 2012: Eyes-on with the BenQ XL2420TX gaming monitor

BenQ XL2420TX

Earlier this week at CES, I got to check out one of BenQ’s latest gaming monitors. The monitor in question is the XL2420TX. It has a 24-inch screen (diagonally), is capable of 1080p HD resolution and has a 3D IR emitter for 3D gaming. The built-in 3D technology is provided by Nvidia. Based on my more »

CES 2012: Batman: Arkham City looks amazing in 3D

Batman in 3D

One of the things I like most about CES is wowing non-gamers. I spent some time at Nvidia’s booth at CES Digital Experience where they had Batman: Arkham City set up across three PC monitors in 3D. Each monitor costs a few hundred dollars and 3D glasses are required. Somehow I think the people more »

Batman: Arkham City has 3D for everyone

If there’s a major game release these days, chances are it’s going to have 3D capabilities. Batman: Arkham City will be no different in that regard. However, Arkham City supports more than just stereoscopic 3D. We’ll also be able to play the game in anaglyphic 3D for PS3, Xbox 360 and PC.

Shadowgun claims to be the future of mobile gaming

Smartphone gaming has taken the traditional gaming market by storm. Due to their simplicity and extremely low prices, smartphone games are presenting a challenge to its handheld and home console counterparts. We’re also starting to see graphical improvements in smartphone games such as Infinity Blade that are getting perilously close to recreating the home console experience in the palm of your hand. The Android operating system doesn’t really have its own Infinity Blade-like game yet, but Shadowgun is aiming to take its place.

PlayStation Suite will be compatible with NVIDIA Tegra mobile devices

The PlayStation Suite will eventually make its way to smartphones and tablets that are powered by NVIDIA’s Tegra 2 processors. This bit of information was revealed by NVIDIA on its Tegra Zone application on Wednesday. PS Suite is a service that will bring PSone games (and other PlayStation-certified software) to Android devices. The Xperia Play is the only device that is confirmed to include PS Suite at this time. Sony is making sure PS Suite is only available on Android devices that meet a certain technical standard.

Video game GPU used to improve CT scans

Computed tomography or CT scan is one of the most useful tools medicine has today. It allows doctors to look inside out bodies without having to cut them open. One of the latest uses of this technology is a process called Image Guided Radiation Therapy (IGRT) which greatly improves the accuracy of traditional radiation therapy. Unfortunately, IGRT also presented some risks but now, technology originally designed for video games is helping improve this life saving technology.

Maingear announces compatibility with Nvidia’s newest graphics cards

Maingear Computers have announced immediate configurability of Nvidia’s latest graphics cards – the Nvidia GeForce GTX 480 and GTX 470 – in the Shift supercomputer.

Nvidia is touting 27 percent faster performance than any GPU newer DX11 applications and, in its press release, claims the GTX 480 61 percent faster in Metro 2033, 89 percent faster in Unigine Heaven v2, and 29 percent faster in Battleforge than the closest competitor.

NVIDIA presents 3DTV Play, its latest gaming software

Since James Cameron shocked everybody with the debut of Avatar on the big screen, 3D technology has been all the rage. Almost every movie is released in 3D now and different TV manufacturers are releasing models that employ this technology.

Fortunately video games were not left behind, and with Sony’s announcement of the PS3′s 3D gaming capabilities, consoles are entering the race. Thanks to NVIDIA, PC gaming is also getting the 3D treatment.

Lenovo releasing a game-worthy netbook, the IdeaPad S12

Lenovo and NVidia are currently working on a new netbook and, from the description, there will be a lot to offer in this laptop for the gaming population.

Using the NVidia Ion graphics technology, Lenovo’s IdeaPad S12 is said to have enough graphics power for full 1080i HD playback and Blu-ray support as well as having a graphics processor powerful enough to be able to offer full HD performance for many of the newer games out there. This doesn’t mean that you’ll be able to support them without a problem since some of the specs are low. Then again, for a starting price of $449 you get what you pay for in terms of power.

Toshiba launches the Satellite X205-SLi gaming notebook with Penryn processor

A PC gamer needs a deep pocket and to be an early adopter of change (of which there is plenty in computer technology). One of the newer technologies out there is the range of 45 nm Penryn processors from Intel that run cooler while providing increased speeds ideal for gaming use. Now Toshiba has introduced the latest and the meanest version of its flagship gaming notebook series. The Satellite X205-SLi has a cogent Penryn at its heart backed by NVIDIA’s SLI graphics, which will combine to give you the…
