Capcom Store Okamiden preorders come with plush Chibiterasu

Anyone interested in preordering Okamiden, may want to head to the Capcom Store. Right now. For a limited time, people who preorder the $29.99 DS game there will also get a 3″ tall Chibiterasu keychain with their order. That’s it on the right over there. Isn’t he adorable? Of course he is! Capcom only has a few of those fuzzy little buggers, so if you want one included with your game on March 15, 2011, you won’t hesitate…

Marvel.com leak spoils Amaterasu and Thor in Marvel vs. Capcom 3

This is why journalists love conventions. In addition to all the official news releases, there are always a few juicy bits that leak out accidentally. Pictures posted on Marvel.com (since removed) reveal that Thor and Amaterasu (from cult hit Okami) are in the cast of fighters in Marvel vs. Capcom 3. These additions make perfect sense. Thor has a movie coming out in 2011 so Marvel is doing all it can to increase his public profile. Amaterasu continues Capcom’s tradition of representing even its more obscure games in the Marvel vs Capcom series.

E3 2010: Hands-on with Okamiden

One of the DS games I was most excited to play at E3 2010 was also one of my first stops when hitting the show floor. Okamiden immediately caught my eye. The demo gives players a chance to try out combat, use the Celestial Brush, see how the partner gameplay works and experience all of Chibiterasu’s cuteness.

You walk around using the D-pad. Just like in Okami, there’s a trail of flowers that springs up where ever Chibiterasu goes. For the demo segment, Chibiterasu’s partner was Kuni, the son of and. The area I played through was fairly basic and harmless, with few enemies or dangers. Jumps are performed with the A button…

Capcom could be bringing Okamiden DS to Europe

Things are looking good for Capcom’s Ōkamiden: Chiisaki Taiyou. Sure, the Japanese DS sequel to Ōkami still only has a vague 2010 release date. But now, Siliconera has discovered that the name Ōkamiden has been trademarked in Europe. It looks like Capcom wants everyone to know the cuteness that is Chibiterasu.

In Ōkamiden the bad guys from Okami return three months later. So Sakuya summons Amaterasu for help, but instead Chibiterasu comes to the rescue. Since Chibiterasu is just a little wolf, that means relearning Celestial Brush techniques. Chibiterasu also needs help to save the world, and will often team up with partners, like Susano and Kushi’s son Nushi…

Amaterasu’s legacy continues in Okamiden DS

After Clover Studio closed, the future of Okami seemed uncertain. Yes, Capcom and Ready at Dawn put together a Wii port of the original game, but the future of the series remained in question. That is, until Famitsu revealed the DS exclusive sequel Okamiden: Chisaki Taiyou. It’s a sequel to Okami. As you can see from the Famitsu scan above, it’ll be a single player game and out in Japan in 2010.

IGN has the most information on the game right now. Okamiden takes place briefly after Okami and stars Chibiterasu and Issun.,,

The search for budget-priced Wii RPGs

A common misconception among the gaming population is that the Wii is home to mini-game collections and family friendly shovelware. While there is a substantial amount of sub-par games, there are many quality games as well.

Another misconception is that there are no Wii RPGs. It’s true that there aren’t very many RPGs in stores, but they are there if you pay attention and look for them. Plus, there are quite a few classic RPGs available on Virtual Console for between 800 and 1000 Wii Points ($8-10).

To get a better idea of what’s available for budget concious gamers, I decided to do a little bargain shopping and research to see what kinds of affordable RPGs are out there for Wii owners. I didn’t look at GameCube RPGs, though there are quite a few like Baten Kaitos that are cheap and easy to find at your local GameStop…

Rebecca Mayes – reviewing games through song

I wouldn’t have thought it possible, but Game People‘s Rebecca Mayes proves it is not only possible to review a game in a song, but also to have that song be incredibly awesome. She plays a game, and instead of the typical review highlight the good and bad points, writes up a song about the game. She then posts the song to Game People, along with the lyrics. You can even download the track for free, if you enjoyed it.

Mayes’ most recent song review is “Hello Kitty,” a review of Hello Kitty: Big City Dreams for the DS. It’s the first review to actually have a few paragraphs discussing the mini-games before getting straight to the lyrics. And I can’t stop listening to it. Moving on, Mayes previously reviewed Hotel Dusk (“The Infuriating and Alluring Case of Mr. Kyle Hyde”), Okami (“I’m a Wolf”) and Wii Sports (“Press A”). The next review hasn’t been announced yet, but her index page reveals…

A few of our favorite Caramelldansen videos

If you’re a YouTube fan, chances are you’ve encountered the Caramelldansen phenomenon, a strange, 30~120 second video that shows cartoon-style versions of popular anime, cartoon or video game characters doing a bunny-wiggle dance to the hyper song “Caramelldansen.” After sitting through the entire video, you’ll be a bit stunned, perhaps wondering what is going on. Yes, you’ve stumbled upon an outdated meme.

Since then, fans have decided to dance the “Caramelldansen” dance, dragging their favorite characters with them. No series is safe, no character too unlikely, to become…

Okami Wii’s unfortunate cover art rips off IGN

According to a new post at Destructoid, the box art for brilliant Wii-ported Okami actually has the IGN watermark in the background. This means that whatever “artist” designed the cover blatantly ripped off an image from IGN and used it for the cover – a move that signifies the epitome of laziness. If this is more »

Capcom launches a site devoted to the art of Okami

Capcom has opened a new Okami Art website to compliment the Wii rerelease of the fan favorite title Okami. The website contains a galleries of both official and fan art, downloadable wallpapers, information on the upcoming Okami: Official Complete Works art book and a fan art contest. The contest details haven’t been officially announced, but all fan art that has been submitted count as entries for it.
