Killzone 3 multiplayer beta suffering from connection issues

The Killzone 3 multiplayer open beta went live in the United States and Europe earlier today, and has already run into a big problem. Many users have found themselves unable to connect to a match. This problem began just as the beta was released, and has persisted throughout the day. If you’re one of the players affected, just know you are not alone.

Killzone 3 open beta starts February 2

The Killzone 3 multiplayer beta will soon be open to everyone. Starting February 2, Killzone 3 will be entering its open beta phase. It will be available to anyone with access to the PlayStation Network which means you don’t have to be a PlayStation Plus subscriber to get in on the action. The beta will run until February 14, 2011.

Gaikai now serving 11,000 open beta users

Gaikai has rolled into open beta phase. The cloud gaming service is scheduled to become widely available in the middle of December, but closed beta testing has been going on for a while. Now more users are experiencing the service David Perry has been hyping. As of today, 11,000 people are putting Gaikai through its paces.

Dynasty Warriors Online beta now open to all

The hack-and-slash franchise, Dynasty Warriors, is being turned in to a MMO and has been in closed beta for a few weeks.

Aeria, the game’s publisher, has opened the Dynasty Warriors Online beta as of yesterday (November 2, 2010) allowing anyone to get into the online chop-chop action.

EverQuest II free-to-play open beta begins

Sony Online Entertainment’s long-running MMORPG EverQuest II has begun the beta program for their new, free-to-play (F2P) version of the game, called EverQuest II Extended. Starting yesterday (August 19, 2010), players can visit the EverQuest II website and register to participate in the beta.

Gamertell’s first encounter with the undead menace in Dead Frontier’s open beta

Jagged Blade Games’ Dead Frontier, a free-to-play, browser-based, zombie apocolypse survival MMO, has just entered the open beta phase. The game is an action RPG set after the zombie menace has overrun the world. Players are tasked with trying to survive and grow stronger, despite the constant zombie attacks and threats. The open beta has just begun, and anyone who wants to play is free to sign up and give it a try. As a horror game fan with a day off, I decided to try spending my morning taking down some zombies.

The character creation process offers many different character options. After you’ve filled out the initial information, chosen a gender and agreed to follow the rules, you are allowed to create a survivor. You can customize the character’s appearance to some degree, changing his/her hair/face, shirt and pants.

There are many different jobs to choose from, each with specific bonuses…

Get ready to total robots in the Plain Sight open beta

Plain Sight, one of the coolest independent games of 2009, has just entered the open beta phase. This is only a temporarily open beta though, it only lasts until February 8, 2009. So you better make the best of it and start now if you want to experience everything.

The premise of Plain Sight is pretty simple – you kill other robots to get points and make yourself bigger and stronger. The catch is that you have to kill yourself once you’ve gotten an admirable amount of points in order to keep them and get bigger. But, if one of the other robots in the area kills you before you get the chance to kill yourself, you lose all of your hard earned points…

Steal some cable in Secondhand Land’s open beta

Are you a sheep or are you a wolf? That’s the question in Secondhand Lands, and if you join the open beta for Callipygian Games and Pixel Mine’s latest, free-to-play MMORPG, you can answer that question. Secondhand Lands is a humorous, fairytale themed MMO, where players play as catgirls, scrappers, sheep or wolves.

When you begin playing, you have to decide whose side you’re on – Little Bo Peep or Red Riding Hood. Once you do, you can start adventuring through the world, trying to subdue various iconic creature enemies like the Billy Goats Gruff. Another selling point is that there are over 120 quests already available.

As for the whole cable stealing – you actually can do that in the game…

Home’s doors open December 11, 2008

Get ready for your open house, because Home‘s open beta begins December 11, 2008. After an incredibly long wait, delays, a closed beta and anxious murmurings over what imminent in the “launch is imminent” means, Sony will finally open the doors to the masses. I bet that two year wait feels like nothing now.

Residents of North America, Europe and Japan will all be experiencing Home at the same time. However, not every experience will be identical. There will be exclusive content, advertising and environments for each region. It also sounds like some advertisers (like Diesel in the European version) will even be already selling cash accessories or items for avatars. Plus, Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune and Far Cry 2 areas have already been confirmed for the North American version of Home.

It will be easy for PS3 users to get Home as well. It is a free download…

Runes of Magic open beta coming very soon

So, do you have any plans 11 days from today? Because if you don’t, then you may want to drop by Runes of Magic. Frogster just announced that the free-to-play, fantasy MMORPG’s open beta begins December 15, 2008, and what better way to celebrate then being there, playing the game, on the very first day.

Now, this is a slightly delayed launch. Originally, Frogster was telling those waiting in the wings that the open beta would begin on December 9, 2008. I don’t think a delay of six days is anything to complain about though.

Frogster’s even going to be a little dramatic about the transition between the closed and open beta periods with an event…
