Panasonic’s Jungle is no more

Panasonic pulled back the camouflaged curtain to unveil the Jungle last year. The Jungle was a handheld gaming console with a twist. Instead of catering to gaming on the go, the Jungle was a cross between a netbook and a proper gaming handheld. It was to offer a way to play MMOs on the go without hauling a laptop around. It was an outrageous concept and looked to be DOA. Maybe that’s why Panasonic decided to scrap it.

Target’s got Xbox 360s and HDTVs on sale this week

If you’re looking for electronics’ in the Target ad for January 30 – February 5, 2011, be prepared to see one of two things – Xbox 360s or HDTVs. I guess the store wants to prepare people for Super Bowl XLV on February 6, 2011, by getting a TV in place or letting them play some football video games…

Kmart’s after Christmas ad forgoes gaming coupons for cheap games

Remember all those really nice gaming coupons Kmart was offering the last couple weeks? Well, it looks like the store is taking a break. The December 26, 2010 through January 1, 2011 ad is now out and there isn’t a gaming coupon in sight. There are, however, 18 sale games, one sale accessory and three reduced HDTVs.

First, let’s go through the games. A number of them are pretty darn good and desirable, and the after Christmas prices on them are quite reasonable…

Panasonic reveals its portable online console called Jungle

Are you ready for another portable gaming console? Me neither, but don’t tell that to Panasonic. The same company that brought us the 3DO in 1996 is at it again with Jungle. Jungle is meant to be primarily used to play online games with an emphasis on MMOs.

Survey shows Japanese consumers apathetic about 3D

Somewhere, Panasonic and Sony executives are sticking their fingers in their ears and making those “La La La, I can’t hear you” noises at the results of a Japanese consumer survey. A survey by Japanese price comparison website Kakaku indicated that nearly 70 percent of its respondents are not planning to buy a 3D TV.

Porn is the key to 3D HDTV expansion

The two adult films will be released on June 7 and 19, 2010 respectively. They be available around the same time Sony starts selling its first 3D enabled Bravia televisions in Japan on June 10, 2010. Sony representatives would not comment on whether the company feels adult movies will help sell its televisions. I can’t say I blame Sony. The last thing the company wants is to be associated with the seediness of the adult film industry.

Deal of the Week: Best Buy tossing in Xbox 360 with select HDTVs

Video games are meant to be experienced with the most state-of-the-art television we can possibly find. The problem is HDTV penetration is not at its ideal level right now and some gamers are still playing in standard definition. Best Buy is looking to bring those gamers over to the realm of HD by offering up bundles that include Xbox 360 Arcade Consoles and HDTV’s made by Panasonic.

At the end of Best Buy’s circular for October 11, 2008, are two deals shown side by side. The first is that Best Buy is selling a 32 in. LCD Panasonic 720p HDTV with the Xbox 360 Arcade console for $699. This deal will continue throughout the week until…

Panasonic unveils Wii-proof Plasma TVs

The flying, slippery Wii-mote has accounted for many broken TV sets. So, just like the Wii, even protective Wii-mote straps have been in huge demand. But imagine if your TV was strong enough to withstand any Wii-mote strikes, you could then indulge in your favorite Wii games wholeheartedly without worrying about accidentally damaging your expensive more »
