DiCaprio to portray Bushnell in Atari (the movie)
Leonardo DiCaprio made a real fist of his meaty role in the Academy award-winning biopic The Aviator in which he played Howard Hughes. DiCaprio will once again portray the role of a real-life pioneer in the Paramount Pictures’ film tentatively titled Atari. The film will tell the story of one of the pioneers of the videogames industry, Nolan Bushnell, the founder of Atari.

Paramount releases pics of Snake Eyes in upcoming G.I. Joe movie
Loyal fans of the ’80s classic G.I. Joe nearly had a fit when, in 2007, it seemed that the beloved franchise was going to take a disastrous turn for the worse. Paramount Pictures said that the film wouldn’t feature any of the Joes beyond Duke, nor would it focus on any of the themes that made the series so popular in the first place. Worse still, the film’s producers were fearful of offending any potential international viewers by making G.I. Joe too patriotic.

Paramount sides with HD-DVD
Paramount Pictures has decided to go exclusively with HD DVD dealing what could be an important blow to Sony’s Blu-ray format. Blockbusters such as Transformers and Shrek the Third will now only be available in HD DVD.
Sony seemed to have the upper hand with 2 to 1 ratios in sales, thanks to their PS3 console, and exclusive deals with Blockbuster and Wal-Mart but maybe again Sony’s decision to go with a proprietary format will backfire. Betamax anyone?
