La-Mulana is done, will be out next year

la mulana wiiware

You know the saying, “Better late than ever?” Well, it’s particularly applicable in the case of La-Mulana. It was originally a freeware, indie game that was supposed to receive an updated WiiWare port, just like what happened with Cave Story. Except there were some issues. You know, things sometimes come up in development, and it more »

PC gamers get Alan Wake as Xbox 360 owners get American Nightmare

Here’s some good news for computer gamers who enjoy adventure games with rich, thrilling stories. Alan Wake is actually getting a Windows port! The Xbox 360 game received rave reviews when it was released in May, 2010 and since then people who don’t own that particular console have been hoping Remedy would work on a port. Now, it turns out all those people may get to experience the original Alan Wake just as Alan Wake: American Nightmare is released on Xbox Live Arcade.

As of right now, both games have an early 2011 release window…

Gamersgate has an uber 2011 holiday sale with some great daily deals

Fresh games often come out with a hefty premium price, but the price often drops in a month or two when the hotness finally cools off. After that, the game tends to be forgotten in the rush of next “A title”, and the game doesn’t really sell regardless of the price. This is a shame, because often those “golden oldie” games of just a few months ago are pretty good, and sometimes are even better than when they first came out, thanks to patches and player mods.

Gamersgate is having a holiday sale featuring many games of yestermonth…

Good Old Games now sells the Heavy Rain precursor Indigo Prophecy

Even though Heavy Rain did well, ridiculously well, Quantic Dream’s prior experience with a multifaceted adventure game wasn’t as successful. I mean, Fahrenheit, aka Indigo Prophecy, did have its fans, but for the most part it was more of a way for Quantic Dreams to get its act together and figure out what needed to be done to create a project like Heavy Rain. So a lot of people probably missed it the first time around. Which makes it good that Good Old Games.com has decided to give people a second shot at experiencing it.

Since it was released in North America as Indigo Prophecy, we’ll just call it that for the rest of this update…

Rochard will finally appear on computers next week

Sony PS3 exclusive Rochard isn’t going to be so exclusive anymore. It turns out the action adventure will soon be available for Windows gamers as well. That’s old news though. We’ve known the port was coming for a while. What we didn’t know, however, is that it would be out on November 15, 2011 and be $9.99, just like the PSN release.

Rochard stars John Rochard, an astro-miner….

Batman: Arkham City won’t grace PCs until the end of November

While all the PS3 and Xbox 360 owners are donning the cowl and and beating up bad guys around Arkham City, those poor PC gamers are staring at their computers and sighing. You can’t blame them, I mean, it’s kind of tragic when the PC version of a game can’t launch at the same time as its console counterparts. Go ahead and suck up those sighs though, as now there’s a definite November 2011 release date for Batman: Arkham City.

As long as you’re not living in Japan, which doesn’t have a Batman: Arkham City PC release date yet, you’ll be playing the game on your computers in two weeks….

PC players, grab DC Universe Online for free now [Update]

As promised, DC Universe Online is going free-to-play today. Sony Online Entertainment is working on the servers to convert everyone to the new free-to-play model. A new website will also be launched once the transition is complete. If you are going to play DCUO on PC, you can download the client right now.

PC owners can apply new Rage patch, see if it helps

Oh id Software and Bethesda Softworks, you’ve made so many computer gamers mad. Here Rage was supposed to be all pretty and beautiful, a game of the year candidate even, and instead anyone who decided to go for the computer version over the console release received a hot mess. There were graphics errors, crashes, glitches and all other kinds of unpleasantness, with id and Bethesda saying if people updated their graphics drivers, it might all be alright. Well, driver updates alone didn’t fix the problems, so now there’s a Rage patch that just might.

The new Rage patch does lots of good stuff designed to fix the game and make it actually work and look the way it should for you…

Review: Hector 3: Beyond Reasonable Doom

This is a Telltale series that you definitely need to check out. It’s funny, gross, shocking, ridiculous and just plain fun. Each episode gets better and we wish there were more than just three.

The Witcher 2.0 patch adds 2 modes and a tutorial

Don’t you just love it when developers use patches to add extra features to games? Well, that’s exactly what CD Projekt RED is up to with The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings. On September 29, 2011, the Windows game is going to be brought up to version 2.0 with a patch, and it will not only fix 40 game issues, it will also add two new game modes and an in-game tutorial.

Let’s start with the game modes…
