Peter Moore believes Battlefield 3 stole Modern Warfare 3 market share
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 kept breaking industry records this Fall, selling 6.5 million units in 24 hours.
Despite Activision’s continued success with the franchise, EA COO Peter Moore, in an interview with Industry Gamers, pointed to BF3′s 5 million sold as evidence that the game is gaining ground. Moore said he felt the two games have both done a lot to grow the industry and that if BF3 hasn’t stolen market share, then it has added five million new first-person shooter fanatics.
He doesn’t address the possibility that at least some gamers purchased both high-profile games.

The subscription plan, according to the document, could include things such as discounted content for games, full downloadable versions of some games and free transfer of DLC from one game to future games.
Michael Vick makes Final Four in fan voting for Madden NFL 12 cover
Are EA Sports marketing employees allowed to vote for the Madden NFL 12 cover? Because a few are probably uncomfortable at the thought of Michael Vick adorning the cover of the world’s most popular football game.
For the second straight year, EA Sports is allowing fans to vote for the cover athlete. Michael Vick has made the semifinals of the vote after his football rebirth in Philadelphia. A large number of football fans have forgiven Vick for his involvement in dog fighting but many animal activists haven’t.
EA announces Tiger Woods PGA Tour 12, takes Woods off the cover
Sponsors began jumping off the Tiger Woods bandwagon rapidly after news of his extramarital affairs broke. One that stuck by him emphatically was EA Sports, who uses Tiger as the face of its PGA Tour golf series. After a year in which sales dipped and Tiger still hasn’t found his golf game, EA appears to be reversing course.
NBA Jam joins the realm of politics

A slight problem with EA’s Online Pass
EA is confident that gamers would rather buy its games new than incur additional costs. For example, the price on a used game that is reasonably new is about $55 before tax. If you buy the online pass for $10, you’ll be paying slightly more than you would have originally. If you happen to receive the game as a gift or through some other means where you didn’t have to pay, the $10 would go towards funding additional content.
EA Sports announces Facebook version of Madden Football
Casual games on Facebook, including Farmville and Mafia Wars, are an industry expected to make more than $2 billion by 2012, according to ThinkEquity LLC analyst Atul Bagga. Electronic Arts didn’t become one of the biggest companies in videogames by letting that kind of money get away. EA Sports President Peter Moore told Bloomberg Television that the company will bring a stripped down version of its popular Madden NFL series to Facebook.
EA’s Peter Moore says disc-less consoles a decade away
The industry seems sharply divided on how much of an impact digital downloading will have on the future of game sales.
There has been speculation about whether the next Xbox or PlayStation will even feature any kind of disc drive. EA Sports President Peter Moore doesn’t think it’s time to put away the plastic cases and shrink wrapping just yet.
At the recent Berkeley Digital Media Conference, Moore gave his take:
“[The industry is] at least a decade away from saying goodbye to a physical disc. The more important question is what does the next generation of console look like?”
