Sony thinks girl gamers want purple PSPs and Petz

Sony’s made two big, new bundle announcements. The interesting part is that it seems the two $199.99 bundles are aimed at two different genders.

For the men Sony has an Assassin’s Creed PSP bundle. It comes with a piano black PSP 3000 unit, the Assassin’s Creed PSP game from Ubisoft. It will likely also come with the requisite memory card, and some sort of other extras which haven’t been named.

For the women, Sony has Hannah Montana. That’s right – a pastel purple PSP 3000 with a Hannah Montana music game, a UMD with Hannah Montana episodes, Hannah Montana stickers and a 2gb memory stick. Doesn’t seem as exciting.

Ubisoft will also be contributing Petz games for the PSP, along with the Assassin’s Creed entry. The exact Petz titles to come haven’t been specified, but the Playstation.Blog mentions bunnies, cats, dogs, dolphins, hamsters, horses and tigers – all Petz games that have already appeared on the DS.

I will admit, color is a major factor when I pick out a portable gaming system…

Ubisoft Petz moves from the electronics sections to the toy aisles

Ubisoft must really be doing well with its Petz line of games, as it has just announced a unique line of stuffed toys, created with Commonwealth Toy Company, to coincide with three new DS games. So if you decide to pick up the DS games Petz Catz Clan, Petz Dogz Pack or Petz Monkeyz House, you can also get a stuffed cat, dog or monkey with a code to unlock that animal in your game.

The games are scheduled to be released this month. Dogz Pack is already available (it came out November 4, 2008), and Catz Clan and Monkey House come out November 18, 2008…

Ubisoft gets casual its E3 2007 offerings

At today’s Ubisoft press conference (July 12, 2007), the company showed off several casual DS titles alongside the more hardcore offerings of Assassin’s Creed and Haze, including new Petz offerings, new brands Imagine and MyCoach, and guitar simulator Jam Sessions.

The conference began with a discussion of the popular pet-simulator Petz line on the DS, which includes Horses, Dogz, Hamsterz and Catz, and announced Tigerz and Dolphinz. The line apparently makes up 10% of the company’s business, a figure they would like to see expanded to 20%.

Also announced for the DS is a new line of games …
