Rumor: Sony to release PlayStation phone in 2010

This story follows reports of Sony looking to unite the PlayStation Network through a number of devices that use a single user ID. The Sony Online service would be spread out across MP3 players, eBook readers, televisions and other devices. A smartphone would certainly cover most of those bases. It would also be a way for Sony to monetize the PlayStation Network which is something the company has expressed interest in. Perhaps instead of Sony directly charging to access the network, it will take a cut from wireless providers every month.

PSP phone may be squashed

With the unprecedented success of the iPhone and its ability to harness the potential of a phone/gaming device (sorry NGage), Sony Ericsson was looking to get in on the market with a PSP phone.

According to Mobile Today, Sony told Sony Ericsson it could not use the PlayStation brand in a new handset. Mobile Today also said sources close to the issue claim Sony will only use the PlayStation brand in phones when Sony itself starts making them or if the Sony Ericsson made phones had capabilities that are equal or superior to Sony’s individual devices…

Google unveils Android-enabled phone but where are all the games!?

Google and T-Mobile let the world oogle its newest creation today (September 23, 2008), the T-Mobile G1, the first Android-enabled phone with (according to the press release) “full touch-screen functionality and a QWERTY keyboard with a mobile Web experience that includes the popular Google products.” It’s obviously meant to compete with the iPhone but, then again, what new cell phone isn’t?

Also according to T-Mobile’s press release, the Andorid phone will offer gaming capabilities but specifics – game buttons, game titles, developers, etc. – have not yet been officially announced.

PCMag does point out that there are currently 8 games that can run on Android currently available in the Android Market…

Rumor Denied: Sony doesn’t plan to release Playstation Phone

Rumors can be exacerbating especially when shrugged off with a cold shoulder.  Another rumor has been officially dismissed as if it was the most ridiculous thing that could possibly happen. There was a report in the Economic Times of India on Wednesday (November 17, 2007) that led to strong speculation about a Playstation cellphone device, more »

Crash-ing Bandicoot style with N-Gage

To go along with newly reimagined Nokia N-gage platform/service, Vivendi Games Mobile is releasing another game in the Crash Bandicoot franchise.

VU previously released a port of Crash Nitro Kart as an N-Gage cart in 2003. The details for the new Bandicoot game were pretty sparse, only indicating that it will follow “the original storyline where the crazy marsupial must save the world” and be filled with the usual antics and humor found in earlier games. No word on release date, exact game title or pricing.
