Sony lowering PS3 and PSP activations for PSN accounts
The days of having several PS3s and PSPs linked to a single PSN account are coming to an end on November 18. Sony announced today it will decrease the number of console activations from five to two per PSN account. The policy will take effect for any content purchased after November 18. Anything purchased before then will still be subject to the five console limit.
Grad students create PlayStation 3 game to help kids battle cancer
This console generation we’ve learned that games do not have to be a sedentary hobby. The Nintendo Wii is being used for everything from stroke rehab to helping athletes lose weight. Now a prototype game created by University of Utah students and faculty is helping young cancer patients keep their spirits up.
Rumor: New PS3 revision coming, new copy protection along with BD-J for BD-3D
Developers were recently notified that a new revision of the PlayStation 3 is in the testing process that will feature a new copy protection system not on the motherboard but inside the BD-ROM drive itself, similar to the Xbox 360.

E3 2011: Saints Row: The Third will support PlayStation Move
Saints Row: The Third, the latest chapter of the over-the-top open world game from THQ, will make full use of PlayStation Move controls. Sony Computer Entertainment America President Jack Tretton announced it during his company’s E3 press event. There will even be a PS3- exclusive game mode that Tretton said would fit in with the game’s unique style of humor.
Joe Mauer’s baseball game cover confusing retailers, shoppers
Minnesota Twins’ catcher Joe Mauer is a very likable athlete and videogame pitchman. It’s understandable Sony would pick him as the cover athlete for its MLB:The Show baseball game two years in a row.
The decision is having an unintended side effect, though. There are multiple reports coming in of retail employees confusing MLB 11 with MLB 10. This has led to some retailers not only breaking street date but selling the brand new game at a discounted price.
MLB 11:The Show brings analog control to the series
Analog controls are the new quick-time events, with sports games leading the charge. Series such as Fight Night have tried to convince gamers analog controls are the way of the future. MLB 11:The Show is one of the latest games to get an analog control overhaul. Sony San Diego’s Chris Gill talked to ESPN about the changes to the series.
Planeswalkers now dueling on PS3
On November 23, 2010, Wizards of the Coast (WotC) announced the release of Magic: The Gathering – Duels of the Planeswalkers for the Playstation 3 (PS3), along with three expansion packs.
The online version is already fairly popular on the PC (through Steam) and Xbox Live, so it really it’s about time they spread it to other platforms.
