Bethesda’s attempt to fix crippling lag and other problems in the PS3 version of Skyrim hasn’t been as helpful as we’d hoped. Users are reporting even more problems with the game after updating. The Bethesda forums has an ongoing thread filled with players complaining about the lack of magic resistance associated with their characters. Players who were once very resistant to magic have found themselves getting bested by every spell that’s thrown at them.

Things are not looking too good for the rebirth of DC Universe Online. What started out as an effort to increase revenue by making the game free-to-play has become an effort to just keep the game running. SOE’s megaservers for DCUO have been suffering from major problems since the free-to-play initiative began. Over the past few days, PC and PS3 players in the United States and Europe have been unable to continuously play DCUO without encountering critical issues. If SOE was hoping to make a good first impression with DCUO, it has failed.

L.A. Noire freezing not caused by PS3 firmware or game disc
Sony and Rockstar Games just made a joint statement on the PlayStation Blog addressing the overheating and freezing issues players are experiencing with L.A. Noire. Rockstar originally said PS3 firmware 3.61 was to blame for the overheating and subsequent game freezes, but it retracted that statement shortly afterwards. The two companies are now saying that neither the game or the PS3 firmware is to blame.

THQ fills the public in on Homefront updates
Homefront is getting hammered with bugs at the moment. Many users were complaining about console freezes and other problems involving multiplayer. A patch was released for the PS3 version of Homefront that was supposed to iron out the biggest problems. Some problems are still hanging around, but THQ and Kaos Studios are keeping players informed every step of the way. Over the weekend, THQ listed a bunch of problems that the Homefront developers are working on, along with some possible fixes.

If you did get the game, there’s a chance you’ve experienced some freezing issues on PS3 and Xbox 360. The Homefront forums are lighting up with upset customers. Some can’t get past the first loading screen, and others are experiencing freezing during multiplayer. Kaos Studios is aware of these problems and is sorting it out.
Shank on XBLA having problems, a fix is promised
Shank is suffering from stuttering cutscenes and longer loading times on the Xbox 360. Klei initially believed part of this problem is due to the speed at which older Xbox 360′s access data on its hard drive. Now the developer states the issues are on their end and the Xbox 360 isn’t to blame. These issues slipped by Klei Entertainment because Shank worked just fine on its Xbox 360 development kits. Furthermore, there is a glitch which may prohibit two achievements from appearing after unlocking the trial version of Shank.

The latest firmware update for the PS3 has been causing problems for some people trying to update their hard drives. Reports say those who have been affected are getting error messages after trying to replace a hard drive if firmware 3.41 was already installed. Sony initially recommended users to reinstall their original hard drives to restore performance.
