Two Razer Blade gaming laptop prototypes stolen

We first heard about the Razer Blade gaming laptop at CES 2011. It’s being billed as the first laptop that was built with gamers in mind. One of its most unique features is its transforming keyboard that conforms to the game you’re currently playing. The Razer Blade is definitely one of the most intriguing laptops we’ve seen in recent memory, but that fact has also made it a target for thieves. Today, Razer informed the public two prototypes of the Razer Blade were stolen the weekend of November 4.

Comic-Con 2011: Activision demos, dates Prototype 2

The heavyweight bout between Prototype’s Alex Mercer and Prototype 2 protagonist Sgt. James Heller is going down April 24, 2012.

Activision announced the date for much anticipated sequel Prototype 2 and is bringing it to Comic-Con 2011. This is the first time the public can get its hands on the open world superhero game. Comic-Con attendees can stop by the Activision booth to see 15-minute stage presentations of the game and enter a raffle to win a custom leather jacket modeled after the one Heller wears in the game. Radical Entertainment is also passing out swag including t-shirts, posters and giant foam Heller Blade Arms. Note I said foam blade arms. Should you actually encounter a giant mutated monster in your neck of the woods, these will not help you defend yourself.

E3 2011: Prototype 2′s absolute power could corrupt you

Prototype was an action-packed game that let you save the city of New York (that is, the parts of it you didn’t smash first). Protagonist Alex Mercer got infected with the Blacklight virus, giving him superhuman abilities including strength and shapeshifting.

In Prototype 2, Mercer is taking a backseat to Sgt. James Heller. Mercer infected Heller with Blacklight, granting him the same fantastic powers. Heller blames Mercer for the loss of his family, so the second game asks you to “Murder Your Maker.”

Prototype’s hero is Prototype 2′s villain

Aaron Eckhart’s Harvey Dent proposed in The Dark Knight that you either die a hero or live long enough to see yourself become the villain. it seems that Prototype’s Alex Mercer has lived long enough.

Developer Radical Entertainment had previously revealed that Alex Mercer, the hero of the first game, would be taking on a different role. Its latest developer video confirms that the game will focus on a brand new character, Sergeant James Heller.

Heller’s family is killed by the Blacklight virus that Mercer released in the first game. Also, Mercer infects Heller with the virus giving him superpowers. Heller’s role, in his mind, is clear. He must destroy Mercer.

Sony’s 3D RayModeler displays 360 degree 3D images

3D displays are the big thing now, but it won’t be that way in the coming years. Big electronic companies are always working on the next big thing. This kind of technology, and the devices that house them, are sometimes never formally announced. You’d be surprised how many intriguing ideas are hidden deep within the research and development labs of companies. Sony unlocked the door to its windowless R&D basement to let the RayModeler out for a little air. It’s still a prototype, but it provides a glimpse into what may be in our future.

Activision’s Wappy Dog also combines toys and games

During Toy Fair 2011, Activision announced it would be bringing back the Spyro franchise. Skylanders: Spryo’s Adventure will be a game that depends on a series of toys to work. The toys act as storage devices, and a way for the game to know what character you’re playing as. Think of this as a device that doesn’t come with batteries. The only difference is that Activision is selling those batteries. Activision also has another toy/game hybrid called Wappy Dog.

Important Importables Review: Arabians Lost DS

Quinrose’s games for girls are known for their engaging stories and strong characters. While most of the heroines in otome games sometimes come across as rather bland, featureless or sometimes even helpless, the Quinrose heroines stand out. They’re strong, independent and have vibrant personalities that keep them from being cookie cutter characters. Arabians Lost is no exception. And now, thanks to Quinrose and Prototype taking the time to port it to the region-free DS, gamers around the world can enjoy it as well.

Aileen is a princess. Not a normal princess though, a princess of Gilkhatar. And Gilkhatar happens to be reknowned for being a desert kingdom filled with liars, assassins, cheats, thieves and many other undesirable characters. As such, she’s not the typical defenseless princess. She’s trained to fight, use magic, pick locks and use all other kinds of trickery.

So when her parents tell her that they want to arrange a marriage, she isn’t the kind of woman who’s going to stand for it…

E3 2010: Hands-on with ForceTek ‘s XIO full-arm motion controller

This is another one of those bits of gaming gear that has a certain, “Wow!” factor yet you may not ever see in stores.

ForceTek has developed a hard shell gaming glove called XIO (aka Virtual Gaming System).

The XIO glove goes from your palm past your elbow with several points of articulation. At the hand is a foam grip with two red fire button, one on top and one for a trigger. On the wrist were system buttons (ABXY, Select) which were illuminated. The wrist buttons were inoperable so they were mostly for show.
