I enjoy those bargains where you buy something and get something else for free, don’t you? Well, if you don’t have a PS3 yet and didn’t get one for Christmas you may be tempted to take advantage of this deal. Order a PS3 from GameStop and get a free copy of LittleBigPlanet 2.

Gran Turismo 5 bundle headed to Europe, faceplate headed to Australia

Europe’s getting a new PS3 bundle on November 5, 2010 – a Gran Turismo 5 Collector’s Edition PS3 bundle. A listing just appeared on Amazon.co.uk for £289.99. The European Gran Turismo 5 bundle doesn’t come with the blue PS3 and controller like the Japanese one, but it’s still a very nice set…

Japan getting white PS3′s with new hard drives

The 160GB PS3 Slim will cost $341 in both black and white color schemes. A new 320GB PS3 will also be made available for around $400. The specs on each console is the same except you’re getting double the storage for about $60 more. Keep in mind you can easily swap out the PS3 hard drive in favor of a much larger one if you choose.

PS3 finally boxed with HDMI cable

There’s a couple things Sony got wrong when boxing the PS3. The first error is not putting any kind of microphone into the box. If you’ve played any PS3 game online, you’d notice a relatively small amount of chatter compared to Xbox Live (in which people never seem to shut up). A big reason for this is because every Xbox 360 ships with a microphone. The second error is a lack of component or HDMI cables.

Target listing leaks MLB 10: The Show PS3 slim bundle

There’s another PS3 bundle on the way! Target’s website is the bearer of good news in this instance, as a recent product listing is the source of the leak. It refers to the item as the PS3 MLB 10 Limited Edition Bundle, but doesn’t offer a price or a release date.

The Target listing does do a wonderful job of letting us know everything that comes with the PS3 MLB 10 bundle…

250GB PS3 bundles headed to the UK

As Autumn begins in the western world, Sony is starting to play some top cards from its hand. Sony has never had just one console SKU since this console generation started so it’s only natural to see some worthwhile bundles coming out in the UK. These consoles will ship with a 250GB hard drive and come in a variety of flavors for £284.99 (approx. US$458).

At the beginning of October 2009, a bundle containing either two PS3 Platinum titles or a copy of inFamous will be released, followed by an Uncharted 2 bundle on October 16, 2009. There’s also going to be a special bundle for movie buffs featuring X-Men Origins: Wolverine, The Dark Knight and a Blu-ray remote for the same price as the previously mentioned bundles.

PS2 backwards compatibility not coming back to PS3, ever

Kiddies, you may want to sit down for this one. I have some bad news.

During a chat with ArsTechnica, Sony Computer Entertainment of America’s marketing director, John Koller, the longtime question of what Sony plans to do about PlayStation 2 backwards compatibility on PlayStation 3 was asked and met with a disturbing answer…

GamesCom 2009: Sony information explosion includes slim PS3, PSP minis and more

There has been a serious information explosion from Sony at GamesCom 2009 today, which rivals, and perhaps even puts to shame, the E3 2009 Sony press conference. After comparing the announcements, I’m definitely feeling more excited now.

The main announcement was the confirmation of a $299 slimmer PS3 that comes packaged with a 120 GB hard drive. The new version of the system will debut September, 2009. All existing PS3 models will experience a $100 price drop and will also cost $299 starting August 19, 2009. The new PS3 slim is 2/3 the size of the original PS3, and also uses 2/3 the power of the original PS3. It also comes with system software 3.00, has the Bravia Sync feature which lets you use a remote control, comes with a vertical stand and doesn’t allow other operating systems to be installed on it.

Rumor: PS3 slim may be real, won’t be announced at E3 2009

A source within Ars Technica and VG247 now say the PS3 slim is very real and will be on store shelves Fall 2009.

The source says the slim console won’t be announced at E3 2009 because Sony wants to sell the units that are currently on shelves. Once that supply starts to dwindle the company is expected announce the new slim model. This model also could also usher in a PS3 price cut if we assume that smaller yet just as powerful technology is present in the PS3 slim which will help cut down on development costs. Sony just may pass the savings on to the consumer.
