Sony reveals which PSP games are compatible with the Vita
Sony released an interesting PlayStation Blog update today. It was primarily designed to inform prospective Vita owners of how to download their digital PSP games from the PlayStation Store to their new handheld once they get it home. It’s nothing shocking, as it just involves getting the game from your Download List at the store more »
No UMD Passport program for North American Vita owners
The Vita doesn’t play UMDs, but it is backwards compatible with downloadable PSP games. However, given how the PSPgo flopped and the affordable price of physical UMDs both used and new, many PSP owners have a rather large UMD library. In Japan, the solution to get people to upgrade was to introduce a UMD Passport more »
Japan Import: Suikoden: The Woven Web of a Century out February 9
Suikoden Tierkreis may have only enjoyed a little success when it was released in North America, but it obviously did well in Japan. At least, it did well enough to merit a follow up. Suikoden: The Woven Web of a Century (Genso Suikoden Tsumugareshi Hyakunen no Toki) will be keeping the Suikoden spirit alive in more »
Atlus skips the trolling, just announces Growlanser IV for PSP
If you’re a member of the Atlus Faithful email newsletter, then seeing that familiar newsletter@atlus.com email address in your inbox always causes a flurry of emotions. Back when the company was trolling us about the Gungnir release, it brough frustration as each clue seemed to hint at either Gungnir or Growlanser IV. When we know more »
Aeria and Falcom bringing Trails in the Sky to smartphones
What do you get when a major RPG developer like Falcom makes a deal with a publisher like Aeria to release some of its games on smartphones in both Japanese and English. You get a lot of happy fans! Actually, ecstatic may be the better word, because the series in question happens to be the more »
The Dept. Heaven saga continues with Gungnir in 2012
Atlus’ trolling of fans is now over. The result is half of the people who were following along are pleased, and the other half are heartbroken. When Atlus started this game of trolling its fans with hints at its next downloadable game, people quickly narrowed it down to two options. One was Growlanser IV for the PSP, a series that hasn’t been seen in North America for years, and the other was Gungnir for the PSP, the fourth game in the Dept. Heaven series that also includes Riviera, Yggdra Union and Knights in the Nightmare. While many had their hopes up that perhaps both games would be released, the news broke today that the mystery title is, in fact, Gungnir and we’ll see it on June 12, 2012…
Sony releasing three more PSP Dual Packs in January 2012
As the PSP creeps ever closer to its inevitable end, Sony still attempts to do little things to encourage people to pick up games for the system. It doesn’t try to extend its lifespan or make its demise more comfortable with really awesome, last minute games. Instead, it releases dual packs of existing games at budget prices. The next round, which will be released in January 2012, includes a Motorstorm: Arctic Edge and Twisted Metal: Head-On pack, a Patapon and Loco Roco pack and a Hot Shots Golf: Open Tee and Hot Shots Tennis: Get a Grip pack…
Don’t worry, that strange PSN Wallet Balance Update email came from Sony
Heads up people, If you’re a PS3 or PSP owner with a PlayStation Network account, a suspicious email could be in your email account right now. The title is “Wallet Balance Update” and it looks quite different from the typical email from Sony. Don’t worry though, as it actually is an email from Sony, not hackers, and was just sent out by mistake.
Not every PSN member seemed to receive this Wallet Balance Update email, but if you did it’s quite distinctive…
Important Importables Review: Bleach Heat the Soul 7
We see Namco Bandai bringing us new Naruto PSP games all the time, but have yet to see a Bleach: Heat the Soul game appear overseas. Somehow, it doesn’t seem fair. Thankfully, the PSP is region-free and fighting games transcend language, which means its fairly easy for people to import and enjoy a game like Bleach: Heat the Soul 7. However, while it is a good fighting game that is visually impressive, represents the Bleach series well and is fun to play, it doesn’t make the same strides forward as previous Heat the Soul entries. The result is a game that, while good, is okay to pass over if you’ve already purchased or played Heat the Soul 5 or 6…
Atlus’ next game starts with a G, ends with a R
Atlus is the kind of company that likes to hype up its fanbase whenever a new game is coming out. You know, tease people and get them all excited about the latest release. Yesterday, all Atlus Faithful fans received an email with the first hint. The new game’s name starts with the letter G. While that started a flurry of excitement over a Persona 4: Golden (Vita) announcement, the next clue rules it out. Today, on the company’s Facebook page, it confirmed that the last letter of the title is R.
This means there are now two viable localization options that could fit those clues: Gungnir (PSP) and Growlanser IV (PSP)….
