A eulogy for the PSPgo
On this day, April 20, 2011, Sony confirmed that production has stopped on the PSPgo. This announcement is quite fitting for today because Sony must have been clearly high when it thought this one up. PSPgo, I don’t like you. In fact, it’s hard to find someone who does. You’re cramped, unattractive and cost more than what you’re worth. For that reason and others, you will not be missed.
Goodbye PSPgo (update)
I guess Sony’s digital download experiment failed. I mean, how else do you interpret a sudden cancellation of the device? That’s what seems to be happening in both Japan and Europe, according to retailer reports.
A Japanese Sony Style Shop employee was the first to discover the PSPgo’s apparent demise…
PSPgo is $200 again
Sony’s made a couple of big PSP announcements in the last few weeks. First, it dropped the price of a standard PSP-3000 to $129.99 and made all of those nice PSP Entertainment Pack bundles $159.99. Then, it made the less popular PSPgo $149.99. Well, I hope you grabbed your PSPgo last week from Sony when the discount was first announced, because it’s back up to $199.99 now…
PSPgo price cut to $150
Sony is continuing its push leading up to the release of the NGP. Whenever something new starts to come out, its old version suddenly becomes more appealing due to price cuts. Sony reduced the price of the PSP-3000 to $129.99 at the end of February. Certain PSP games on UMD were also reduced to $19.99. The PSPgo was the experimental PSP when all things are considered. The public didn’t quite take to it due to its all-digital requirement.
Best Buy discounts PSPgo and 6 Wii games for 2 day event
Best Buy’s holding a two day sale event, which is good news for Wii owners and everyone who ever wanted a PSPgo. Good news because the download-only handheld and six select Wii games will be on sale November 5 and 6, 2010. While they’re in stock, of course. With this sale they’re only reduced while available, and you can’t get a raincheck to pick them up later…
PSPgo price officially cut
Previous reports suggesting a price cut was on the horizon for the PSPgo have proven to be true. The all-digital handheld will be receiving a price cut in the United States and Japan this month.
PSPgo price drop could happen this Friday
Whether you want to classify the PSPgo as an experiment or an idea gone horribly wrong, we can all agree it was priced too high. Considering all the hardware that was taken out of PSPgo, we expected the device to be cheaper than other PSP’s. The current retail price for the PSPgo is $249.99, but if rumors prove to be accurate, the handheld will be getting a $50 price drop before the end of this week.
Gametech makes it easier for PSPgo owners to play games with a PS3 controller
The PSPgo is unique in that it allows owners to grab their PS3 dualshock controller and use it to play their favorite games. It’s a wonderful idea, and Gametech is working on an accessory which will hopefully make it easier for people to do so. It’s a plastic holder which clamps onto the PSPgo and the Sixaxis or DualShock 3 controller to make gaming easier…
Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep will only be released on a UMD
Square Enix has confirmed that the PSP game Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep will be a UMD-only release. You won’t be able to head to the PlayStation Store on launch day and just download a copy. You’ll have to head to an actual store and pick up a $39.99 UMD on September 7, 2010…
