Psychonauts is an undisputed classic. It’s left fans begging for a sequel. However, to do it up right would require a hefty investment. That’s something that Tim Schafer doesn’t have at the moment. Double Fine loves Mac owners, proves it with Psychonauts

When it comes to computer games, Mac owners sometimes get left out. It’s sad, but true. And for six years, anyone with a Mac has had to live with the knowledge that they can’t play Psychonauts, arguably Double Fine Production’s finest endeavor, on their computers. Dry those tears though, as Psychonauts is now available on both Steam and the App Store for you!

Like the Windows version of Psychonauts, it’s $9.99. It also ushers in a game update that applies to both the Windows and Mac versions of the game…

Double Fine will soon get all the money made from Psychonauts sales

There’s some good news today for people who like games made by Tim Schafer and Double Fine, as Double Fine now owns the publishing rights to Psychonauts. The PS2, Xbox and Windows PC game was originally published in North America by Majesco. This mean that Majesco got money whenever someone purchased a digital copy of the game, either for their Windows PC or Xbox 360. Thanks to this move, Double Fine will eventually be the only company getting money when someone buys Psychonauts

Deal of the Day: Psychonauts for $2 on Steam

Labeled as a “Midweek Madeness” sale, steam is offering Psychonauts for only $2 through this Thursday (January 28, 2010).

The platformer currently retails for $9.99 and was originally released in 2005 by Majesco for PC (windows), Xbox and Playstation 2.

Psychonauts stars Raz, a young psychic who leaves the circus to sneak into a summer training camp for future Psychonauts. As expected, nothing is as it seems and Raz has to quickly acquire and perfect a few psychic skills to defeat baddies and solve puzzles. Some of his learned abilities include telekinesis, levitation, invisibility, pyrokinesis, clairvoyance, confusion, shield and blast.

We know these games when we see them because it’s usually imitated over and over again. A game that redefines a genre doesn’t have to be an entirely brand new idea because, truth be told, very few ideas are 100% original. Instead, a genre-defining title is one that grabs the attention of people who never would play that type of game otherwise…

Original Xbox games with original flaws

Just recently Microsoft announced it was launching a service through Xbox Live that will allow users to download titles from the original Xbox to their consoles. Apparently all the games Microsoft is offering at the moment through their new service, called Xbox Originals, have flaws. The issues range from choppy graphics and sound glitches to more »
