Get ready for Rapture on Mac
Giddyup, Mac gamers. It’s about time 2007′s wildest ride (and best game, according to most of the enthusiast gaming press) is coming to the platform. 1Up has just confirmed the announcement of BioShock for Mac. No details on the system secs or release date yet, and from the post, I’m expecting nothing above a straight port, but as a Mac user and hardcore gamer, I’ve got a mind to celebrate.
Cut/Scenes: Gore Verbinksi and the Bioshock movie
By now, we’ve all heard the news that Pirates of the Caribbean director Gore Verbinski will direct the big-screen adaptation of thoughtful underwater shooter Bioshock. We’ve already extolled the virtues of the game and it’s filmic possibilities elsewhere, so right now, let’s focus on the man himself. Is Verbinski up to the challenge of making one of the most fully realized game worlds (and cleverest narratives) come to life? Or are we destined for yet another lame game movie night? We check out the director’s earlier film work, his statements on the adaptation, and his gamer cred to make a long-term prognosis.
Bioshock goes mobile
According to a recent post at 1up, atmospheric underwater FPS Bioshock will be receiving a mobile adaptation. Very few details are available regarding the new game, save for its publisher IG Fun. No release date or proposed genre/approach have been named at this time. One thing is certain – there’s no way the game will more »
Cut/Scenes: Should there be a Bioshock movie?
Caveat Lector: Spoilers for Bioshock are all over the place.
There’s no doubt that the underwater shooter had some of the most immersive atmosphere, cinematic set pieces, compelling characters, and sophisticated storytelling in any game last year (and perhaps ever).
But could it be made into a film?
Or perhaps the bigger question, SHOULD it be made into a film…
