Wireless controllers constantly need to be recharged. Play a lot of games and you find yourself buying multiple controller or multiple battery packs to charge. Let them sit in a drawer for a few weeks and they lose charge faster than their of-the-shelf-non-rechargeable counterparts. And, if you own more than one system, the issue is simply compounded.

You can use these to either replace your AA-eating monster of an Xbox 360 controller or replace your dying rechargeable packs. Some of us still keep a corded backup nearby just in case but who wants to sit on the floor only 9 feet from a 60-inch television?

Nintendo’s Wii is the only current gen game console with standard issue controllers that still require you to purchase separate batteries. So, of course, you likely want to invest in some type of rechargeable batteries or a rechargeable battery system to save a few trips to the store.

My WiiMotes suck batteries dry like a pair of friggin’ starved vampires. Part of the problem is that the motion sensors in the controllers are actually buttons, so when you pick up or even jostle the WiiMotes, the batteries lose a little more charge. I see the little blue lights flicker and I know that’s a few more seconds have been sucked from my game time.
