Review: Guardian Heroes for XBLA
I have a confession. Whenever I hear that an older game is getting re-released in high definition, I usually let out a sigh that’s fueled by disinterest. These things seem like cash grabs to me most of the time. Granted, there are some genuinely good remakes, but others are hardly better than the original. When I started playing the HD remake of Guardian Heroes, I was pleasantly surprised to discover this particular Sega Saturn remake has aged well and looks even better.
Japan Import: Namco Bandai’s next tale is Tales of Innocence R
Among all the other Vita news, there was a happy little ray of sunshine that helped confirm Sony’s new handheld may be just as friendly to RPG gamers as the PSP was. Namco Bandai has announced it’s bringing the Tales series to the system. You may not want to get too excited though, as it’s actually not a new game. It’s Tales of Innocence R, a reimagining of the DS game of the same name.

Goldeneye 007: Reloaded confirmed, will ship with Move support
Activision has confirmed that GoldenEye 007: Reloaded is currently in development for the PS3 and Xbox 360. It is scheduled to be released in the fall. GoldenEye 007: Reloaded is a remake of the classic N64 game. What that game brought to the multiplayer table is undeniable, but it has not stood up well against the test of time. Activision is reviving key features from the N64 version such as four-player split-screen multiplayer and bringing them into the modern age.
E3 2011: ICO & The Shadow of the Colossus Collection releases September 27
The Last Guardian was absent from Sony’s E3 2011 press conference, but Team ICO’s legacy still had a presence. Coming off the announcement of the God of War: Origins Collection, Sony also laid down a solid release date for the ICO & The Shadow of the Colossus Collection. Expect to see this game in stores on September 27, 2011 for $39.99, a full two weeks after the GoW: Origins Collection releases.
E3 2011: God of War Origins Collection hits the PS3 in September
For the past couple years, the videogame industry has developed a fascination with re-releasing older games in high definition. During Sony’s E3 2011 press conference, SCEA president Jack Tretton revealed another couple games the company is adding to its collection of remastered games. God of War: Origins Collection will be coming to the PS3 on one Blu-ray disc on September 13, 2011.
E3 2011: Lots of Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary details revealed
During Microsoft’s E3 2011 press conference we got the news we all expected to hear – the Halo remake is on the way. On November 15, 2011, 10 years after Halo: Combat Evolved was released, Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary will be released at the slightly less than usual price of $39.99. It’s an HD, remastered and enhanced port of the classic game that got so many people hooked on shooters.
As expected, Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary will be completely updated for the Xbox 360 release.
Atlus officially announces Persona 2: Innocent Sin
Atlus has just confirmed that North America will be receiving Persona 2: Innocent Sin for the first time ever. Well, that was quick! The Atlus Faithful email teasing that announcement went out less than a week ago. It looks like we’ll have persona summoning and demon fighting fun in Fall 2011…

Atlus is teasing its fans again with a hint at its next localization. See, there’s this Atlus Faithful email newsletter people can sign up for, and the company often uses it to make game announcements. That, or it’s used to hint at game announcements. Yesterday, an email went out with a retro announcement from June 23, 1999.
Why June 23, 1999? That’s a very good question…
Warlords rises from the Atari 2600′s ashes to assault PS3s and Xbox 360s
Warlords are on the warpath again! Those dragons better beware, because it won’t be so easy for them to take down castles with an army around. Atari is tapping into it’s original Atari 2600 game in the hopes it will translate well into a downloadable, multiplayer PS3 and Xbox 360 game. So before Summer 2011 ends, players will be working against or with other players to protect a castle from fireball spewing dragons.

Resident Evil Revival Selection takes old games and makes them prettier
Add a couple more games to the growing trend of re-releases. Resident Evil has joined the HD remake party with Resident Evil Revival Selection. Resident Evil Revival Selection was allegedly revealed in an upcoming issue of Famitsu magazine. The selection is comprised of Resident Evil 4 and Resident Evil: Code Veronica Director’s Cut.
