Review: Hyperkin PS3 Remotext

The PS3 Remotext is a device that is designed to be a solution for the multiple input methods the PS3 supports. This controller can be used to play games, control media and handle typing tasks with its slide-out keyboard. For $29.99, the Remotext is cheaper than purchasing the official PS3 DVD/Blu-ray remote and PS3 keypad attachment, but price alone isn’t enough to recommend this over standalone products.

Unboxing: Hyperkin PS3 Remotext [Video]

Hyperkin started showing off the PS3 Remotext during E3 2011 and now we have one in our possession. The Remotext is available from Amazon.com for $29.99. This controller is a three-in-one device that acts as a regular PS3 controller, Blu-ray/DVD remote and PS3 keyboard. If that kind of thing interests you, check out our unboxing video.

Xbox 360 Bluetooth headset and remote drops by for the holidays

Sony has been selling PS3-branded Bluetooth devices for a long time. The best thing about Bluetooth headsets for gaming consoles is that they can also be used with other devices such as mobile phones. Come this November, the Xbox 360 is getting a new Bluetooth headset too. It will sell for $59.99. This new headset will replace the current wireless headset.

Wii Party comes with Wii remote

You’re getting more than a game when you pick up Wii Party, you’re getting a game and a controller. Nintendo has just announced that the party game will include a Wii remote. I mean, it is a multiplayer game and you’ll want to play it with someone. So now you can do that right out of the box.

Wii Party is a board game and mini-game collection, with 13 different modes…

Wii remotes get more colorful in 2010

The black Wii remotes and motion plus units are nice, really, but sometimes you want a little more variety than black and white. Nintendo is going to step up and expand the remote color pallette further in 2010. On February 14, 2009, Nintendo will release neon pink and blue Wii remotes.

As you can see from the image at the right, the remotes look exactly like standard remotes, only in pink and blue. As you can also see from the picture, matching pink and blue MotionPlus units and remote jackets will not be released. They will come with MotionPlus peripherals though. A price wasn’t announced, but it’ll probably be the same as the black Remote and MotionPlus bundle – $49.99.

Now that Wii remotes are appearing in different colors, I wonder if we’ll start seeing a rainbow of Wiis as well. If Nintendo does decide to go that route, I hope they slightly upgrade the Wiis by increasing the internal memory…

Pick up your Wii controllers in white or black

Nintendo has just announced a new color of Wii remotes, motionplus and nunchuks – black. It’s good not only for people who want to show a little individuality, but also for people whose white controllers are dirt magnets! I bet families with young gamers are going to love this. They aren’t in stores yet, but on November 16, 2009 they will be.

Here’s how you’ll be able to buy them. The remote and motionplus will be packaged together and cost $49.95. The nunchuk will be available on its own for $19.99. A white remote alone currently costs $39.99 and a motionplus costs $19.99, a total of $59.98, meaning the black remote and motionplus sold together are a nice deal. If a lot of games start requiring motionplus, then people will probably turn to the black remote and motionplus instead of the copy of Wii Play that comes with a remote.

Could a black Wii be far behind…

Gamertell Review: Nyko Charge Station for Wii remotes

My WiiMotes suck batteries dry like a pair of friggin’ starved vampires. Part of the problem is that the motion sensors in the controllers are actually buttons, so when you pick up or even jostle the WiiMotes, the batteries lose a little more charge. I see the little blue lights flicker and I know that’s a few more seconds have been sucked from my game time.

Although I switched over to rechargeable AA batteries a while ago to help save costs, the battery life just doesn’t seem to last very long, even after I moved the WiiMotes to another part of the room.

Nyko’s Charge Station solves both of those problems, one directly and the other quite indirectly …
