Next Resident Evil film scheduled for September 2012 release
Films based on a videogame franchise tend to not do very well. Sure, there are some film adaptations of games that make reasonably good money in theaters, but rarely are they reviewed exceptionally well. In even rarer occasions, sequels to those movies are produced and given nationwide releases. For some reason, the Resident Evil movie franchise has lasted four films, with a fifth movie expected to be released on September 14, 2012.
Capcom’s bringing 9 games to PAX 2010
The 2010 Penny Arcade Expo is happening this week in Seattle, Washington, and if you registered for the event you can see a lot of Capcom’s newest games. It’s going on September 3-5, 2010, and booth 652 will have nine games set up for attendees to try out.

10 more PS3 games become Greatest Hits
PS3 owners who live in North America will soon be able to pick up some phenomenal games at a budget price. Sony announced today on the PlayStation.Blog that it has added 10 games to its Greatest Hits collection. Yup, 10! They’ll all be $29.99 from now on, instead of $49.99 or $59.99. The catch is that they’re all really great games, so you might already own them.

Xbox Live Update for the week of February 14 through 20, 2010
Capcom’s survival horror sequel Resident Evil 5 takes center stage in this week’s marketplace additions. The full adventure is now available through Games On Demand for $29.99 and requires 7 GB of storage. In addition to the game, a whole spate of Resident Evil 5 gear for your Xbox Live avatar is available to. You know you want your avatar to look like Chris Redfield, he’s a cool mercenary dude.
Resident Evil 5 Gold Edition coming 2010
Capcom has announced that new downloadable content will be released for Resident Evil 5 for the Xbox 360 and PS3 next year (2010). Also, a “Gold Edition” of the full game and downloadable content will be available March 2010.
That DLC includes two new episodes, new costumes and a new game mode called “Mercenaries’ Reunion” featuring eight new playable characters and weapon load outs.
Resident Evil 5: Gold Edition will be $49.99 on both 360 and PS3. The PS3′s additional content will be on the disc and the 360 version will be released with a token to download the content via Xbox Live.
Horror games rack up big sales in 2009
It’s been a really good year for games about really bad guys, according to data from everyone’s favorite industry pundit Michael Pachter.
According to the Wedbush Morgan securities analyst, horror-based video games account for more than $147 million in sales this year through September 2009. Horror games sales for all of 2008 totaled only $131 million.
Leading the pack was Resident Evil 5, the newest installment in the Capcom franchise credited with starting the “survival horror” genre. RE5 moved 1.94 million units according to data from market research firm The NPD Group. Pachter said that accounts for more than half of the horror genre sales to this point. That genre number is certain to grow November 17, 2009, when zombie sequel Left 4 Dead 2 hits shelves, along with Wii exclusive Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles.

Sony was really showing off its new wand-like motion controller at the Tokyo Game Show 2009. It still doesn’t have an official name but the implications of what the controller will bring to gaming on the PS3 are impressive.

Capcom is on its way to GamesCom 2009
Back when Gamertell revealed Capcom’s official announcement concerning Monster Hunter Tri‘s worldwide release, it was mentioned that the English version of the Wii game would be at GamesCom 2009. Now, Capcom has made an announcement concerning what other games will be joining Monster Hunter Tri at the August 19-23, 2009 convention.
Capcom’s going to be using GamesCom to be showing off some of its prominent, forthcoming console and PC titles. Dark Void (PS3, Xbox 360, PC), Lost Planet 2 (PS3, Xbox 360), Monster Hunter Tri (Wii), MotoGP 09/10 (Xbox 360), Spyborgs (Wii), Resident Evil 5 (PC) and Tatsunoko vs. Capcom: Ultimate All Stars (Wii) will all be shown at the event.
