Kmart’s January 9-15, 2011 ad makes older games more appealing

Kmart’s January 9-15, 2011 ad has a full page filled with video game deals. The only downside is, none of the deals pertain to new releases. Still, there are a number of good games on sale and if you have a gift card from the holidays, you could get some good games you may have missed when they first came out.

First, let’s look at the bigger deals. If you buy a 320gb PS3 for $349.99 and then also buy an extra DualShock 3 controller at the same time, you’ll pay $34.99 for the controller instead of $54.99…

Fill your life with PS3 Greatest Hits with Amazon’s 10th day of Deals

Today is a pretty good day for PS3 owners. It’s day 10 of Amazon’s 17 Days of Deals in Video Games, and for one day only (December 9, 2010) a bunch of PS3 Greatest Hits games have been reduced. Well, a better term would be general hits, since some of the reduced games aren’t part of the Greatest Hits line. I doubt anyone is going to complain about that, since everyone appreciates a good sale game.

So, here are the 10 PS3 hits that are on sale today…

Amazon selling PS3 game and DualShock 3 combo packs for $60

Amazon’s got some listings for some great bundles for PS3 owners that include games and DualShock 3 controllers. They aren’t shipping yet, but on May 12, 2010 they will. And then whoever decides to spend the $59.99 for them will have a little bit of goodness delivered right to his or her door.

Last time Amazon did this, there was one bundle, an Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune and DualShock 3 bundle. This time, there are four. Each one comes with a DualShock 3 controller and a copy of InFamous, Killzone 2, LittleBigPlanet or Resistance 2. The bundle with LittleBigPlanet is the best deal, since you’re getting the Game of the Year edition…

10 more PS3 games become Greatest Hits

PS3 owners who live in North America will soon be able to pick up some phenomenal games at a budget price. Sony announced today on the PlayStation.Blog that it has added 10 games to its Greatest Hits collection. Yup, 10! They’ll all be $29.99 from now on, instead of $49.99 or $59.99. The catch is that they’re all really great games, so you might already own them.

Sony Home Update: The Chimera are attacking Home, community volunteer program active

After standing your ground in England in the first Resistance game, then the rest of Europe in Resistance 2, those pesky mutants have now invaded PlayStation Home. Find the new space on the world map and enter the ruined railway station to explore.

Also this week a new volunteer program just launched within the Home world. Home Community Volunteers are made up of regular Home users donating their time and efforts to support Home Community Managements by participating in events as well as offer guidance to other community members.

And, as usual, more clothes for your avatars…

Playstation Store Update: Monsters, costumes and maps edition (December 11-17, 2008)

Resistance 2 and LittleBigPlanet were the stars of the latest Playstation Store Update, though that did not prevent other games and systems from presenting viable options for your gaming dollar.

This latest update brought with it an additional map pack for the popular first-person shooter titled Powered up Forever! For the cost of $10, players will have the ability to prove that size does indeed matter by attacking, defeating and harvesting enemy Guardians’ energy cores in order to increase their size and weaponry. Of course, other players will attempt this too, making it a frantic fight for survival.

LittleBigPlanet’s appearance in the store saw the debut of additional costumes for Sackboy, including outfits in honor of Street Fighter IV for $2 apiece and a free Santa suit befitting the holiday season.

While these two titles proved to be the highest profile releases to see Playstation Store additions, other titles saw fit to have their proverbial rosters expanded in terms of content…

Wal-Mart offering $100 gift card with PS3 purchase

If you’re still holding out to buy a PS3, Wal-Mart has a good offer to get you into the door.

Starting at 8 a.m., Saturday, November 8, 2008, Wal-Mart will be selling the 80GB PS3 for $399 with a $100 gift card as an added bonus. Wal-Mart can’t sell every PS3 at this price so it will only have 4 units per store. If you’re in an area that has been…

Resistance 2, Resistance Retribution to infect each another via system connection

Resistance: Retribution” width=”427″ height=”252″ />

There is no doubt that Resistance: Fall of Man has remained one of the Playstation 3′s stand-out titles. This popularity can be attributed to its large-scale environment and the ingenuity of the game’s developers at Insomniac Games. With Resistance‘s sequel due this holiday season (2008), and a side story for the PSP titled Resistance: Retribution expected later in the year, players will have ample opportunities to defeat the Chimera at their own game.

Players who choose to purchase both games will have the opportunity to “infect” their copies of Resistance: Retribution through the connection of their PSP systems to their Playstation 3 consoles…
