Shaun White Snowboarding sequel in the works? Not so fast, says Ubisoft

Despite the questionable reception of Shaun White’s initial video game snowboarding venture, he has already expressed confidence in working on a sequel.

According to Reuters, “The Flying Tomato” made it clear that the knowledge that he gained with completing his first snowboarding video game will only ensure success with his second venture, remarking that he now “knows what is possible and not possible, experiences that will all help with the next game.”

The question of Second Life‘s popularity is one I have frequently mused over as I have examined this alternate online universe. While the premise behind Second Life is a noble one, allowing individuals and companies to grow themselves in an alternate universe, the results thus far have not always been positive; companies have slowly begun to abandon Second Life as a viable means of dissipating information.

THQ pushes back Saints Row 2 release

Hot on the heels of the groundbreaking success of Grand Theft Auto IV, THQ said in an interview with Reuters that they are pushing back the release of Saint’s Row 2 from August 2008 to October 14, 2008.

Rumor: Metal Gear Solid 4 probably not the end of franchise

With the June 2008 release date of the next installment in the Metal Gear Solid series just, there has been a lot of assumption that Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of Patriots will be the last in the series. That might not be the case.

In a recent interview with Reuters, Hideo Kojima, the creator and lead designer of Metal Gear stated:

“Metal Gear will always be around. I feel a responsibility to continue this series as long as users demand it.”

Sony won’t lower PS3 price (yet)

In a bit of non-news, Sony President Ryoji Chubachi told Reuters today (July 6, 2007) that Sony has no plans to reduce the price of the PS3 in the near future.

The system currently retails for $599.99 for the 60 GB model and $499.99 for the 20 GB console. The Xbox 360 is now priced at $299.99 for the Core setup, $399.99 for the regular console and $479.99 for the newest Elite model. Nintendo’s Wii remains the least expensive new gen console at $249.99. (All prices are US$).
