Epic Games weakens sawed-off shotgun in Gears of War 3 (with video)

Gears of War 3 multiplayer, thy name has been Shotgun City for a while now. Epic Games has opted to weaken its newest power weapon, the sawed-off shotgun. Effective October 12, the weapon no longer gibs further than the gnasher shotgun. Shotties are the weapon of choice by a large margin in GOW 3, as evidenced by the stats Senior Gameplay Programmer Pete Knepley displays in the video below. The Gears games helped usher in the era of cover-based shooting, but online multiplayer is still full of people charging ahead with shotguns blasting. They account for 72 percent of quick match kills, with the gnasher responsible for 45 percent.

Preview: Conduit 2 for Wii

On April 15, 2011, High Voltage Software invited Gamertell to come to their studio for an exclusive look at their newest release Conduit 2, a Wii first-person shooter.

This meant that Jenni Lada and I were able to stop by and watch the developers play through a bit of the single player campaign. Then, once we had an idea of the basic principles, all the attendees were able to take part in a few online multiplayer sessions.

The original The Conduit ended with agent Michael Ford discovering a massive conspiracy involving the Trust organization and a supposed alien invasion. Ford stood in front of a conduit portal, deciding whether or not to go through it. He chose to step forward, which is where Conduit 2 begins. Likewise, our experience with Conduit 2 began there, with art director Matt Corso playing while design director David Pellas provided additional background and information.

E3 2010: Hands-on Fallout New Vegas

I was able to check out Fallout New Vegasat Bethesda’s booth during E3 2010.

As the name suggests, the game takes place in Vegas. You can visit casinos, shows, and other Vegasy things. I started the game and almost immediately ran into a hooker. She asked me if I was looking for a good time, so i responded by punching her in the face.

Joel’s guide to overhyped games

Joel Durham has an awesome little list of overhyped games up over at Extreme Tech. But instead of just complaining about the sad state of the game industry today, Joel lists out games that are simply too overexposed and presents a nice, less-hyped alternative title. Its constructive criticism. It’s a relatively short list, and some more »
