Halloween’s this weekend, so time to find something to play that will get you in the right mood. 2010 has been a relatively slow year for horror games, but there were five new releases that might be perfect for some quick scares. Whether you’re looking for gory or just plain unsettling, one of these might be the right pick for you.

The Wii is mainly known for its family friendly games, but the system has slowly been building up a small library of games that aren’t all-ages fare. There aren’t too many games with a “Mature” rating, or that fall into the horror, thriller and suspense genres, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t any available for the system.

Gamertell Review: Silent Hill: Shattered Memories for Wii
The original Silent Hill was released over 10 years ago, in 1999 on the PlayStation. It’s unusual approach and thrilling story spawned a series of beloved horror games. On it’s 10th anniversary, Konami made an unusual announcement stating the company would be “reimagining” the original game. Even more striking was that this reimagining would not only appear on the PlayStation 2 and PSP, but also the Wii. The result is an unorthodox entry in the series that, while intriguing, may disappoint fans of previous Silent Hill games.

Gamertell’s top 10 2009 Wii games
2009 continued the proliferation of more diverse Wii games. While the majority of Wii games released were still geared towards younger or more casual gamers, more games designed for advanced gamers started to get released. There was also a bit more diversity in terms of genres as well.
A lot of games were released last year, and now it’s time to sort through and pick out the best of the best. Gamertell’s gone back over the 2009 releases and selected the games that stood out the most. The games that brought the most joy and entertainment to players.

GamesCom 2009: A brief summation of Konami’s announcements
Konami was among the many major game developers/publishers that decided Cologne, Germany was the place to be this week. The company showed up with multiple games in tow, in a display that quite possibly rivaled their presense at E3 2009. The bulk of the games were titles the public had already heard about at the prior convention, though now new information was available, as were playable demos.
The wide selection of games seems to know no genre or platform limitations. Konami is showing off console, handheld, cell phone, iPhone and PC games. There are games for families, casual players and hardcore gamers represented in the batch.

Konami welcomes Wii owners to Silent Hill
In an age where many people are turning away from print media to internet outlets, it’s good to see magazines have some substance and purpose. Thanks to e a leaked issue of the May 2009 edition of Nintendo Power, we now know that the horror series Silent Hill is going to be setting up a summer home on the Wii. Konami is remaking the original Silent Hill for the system under the title Silent Hill: Shattered Memories.
GoNintendo first reported the breaking news, scanning in the magazine’s cover (as seen below) along with some images and also offered up some choice quotes from the issue discussing Silent Hill: Shattered Memories. Apparently this version of the game is what Konami’s Silent Hill: Shattered Memories producer is calling a reimagining…
