Politicians often have to answer questions about their stance on video games. In a new twist, surging Republican candidate Herman Cain is defending himself against allegations he lifted ideas from a video game. Cain’s rise to popularity has been fueled largely by his “9-9-9″ Tax Plan, which would make the corporate, personal income and national sales tax rate all 9 percent. Huffington Post reporter Amanda Terkel noted those are also the default tax rates in 2003′s SimCity 4. In that game, the default commercial, industrial and residential tax rates all start at 9 percent.

Sims fans who purchased SimCity Societies and SimCity 4 may want to sit down. Are you seated? Good. I have some bad news for you, but just buckle down, you’ll make it through. Of course it’s good news for other Sims fans who waited to get those games.

EA will be selling SimCity 4, SimsCity 4 Rush Hour, SimCity Societies, SimCity Societies Destinations and The Sims Carnival SnapCity altogether as The SimCity Box for $39.99.
