WinterWolves is offering a discount code that gives players 30% off any single. As the code has no expiration date, customers can take their time to check out the available demos before making a final decision on WinterWolves game site. Not sure what to try, I recently contacted the owner of WinterWolves, Celso Riva, to ask him about WinterWolves and his games…

Gary Gygax’s toys are for sale

Gary Gygax, the father of role playing games, passed away March 4, 2008, leaving behind a legacy that stretched from some friends playing in his basement in 1967, to millions of people paying monthly premiums for World of Warcraft today. Gygax didn’t just create games, he played them, and who wouldn’t want to take a peek in his game closet, or better yet own something from it?

Need for Speed Shift 2 Unleashed launching Spring 2011

EA isn’t wasting any time hyping up the next Need for Speed title. Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit comes out today (November 16, 2010) and early reviews are very positive. When we’re done taking down illegal racers and evading the police, EA will be happy to fill the void with Need for Speed Shift 2 Unleashed. Shift 2 Unleashed is coming in spring 2011 for PS3, Xbox 360 and PC.

E3 2010: Hands-on Rune Factory 3: a Fantasy Harvest Moon for DS

Natsume’s booth at E3 this year was packed with cute, adorable games. One of the games I tried out was Rune Factory 3: a Fantasy Harvest Moon.

For those of you unfamiliar with the series, Rune Factory is basically Harvest Moon with rpg elements. Along with harvesting crops, your goal is also to fight monsters, buy weapons, and level up. You can even grow medicines and antidotes that you can sell or keep and use in combat.

The goal of the game is to get the humans and the monsters to get along (since they have been feuding for so long), or at least get them to team up to rid the world of evil. Maisu, the main character, is the best choice for this because he is half human and half monster and can change between forms with the “Transformation Belt”.

Gamertell Review Kumatanchi for DS (Japanese import)

The best way to describe Kumatanchi is to compare it to those popular little electronic eggs known as Tamagotchis. Much like a Tamagotchi, Kumatan must be occasionally fed but, unlike a Tamagotchi, the Nintendo DS does not alarm you when it’s turned off. Just because you may be able to turn off your DS doesn’t mean that the world of Kumatanchi stops.

The fact that she demands so much attention made it easy for me to want to pick on her. So, when Kumatan began hating me, this is where my real fun began…

Taito’s My Pet Shop will be leaping into kids’ laps on March 10, 2009

Taito just announced that it plans to release My Pet Shop (Japanese title: Pet Shop Monogatari) for the Nintendo DS on March 10, 2009.

My Pet Shop is a simulation game that emphasizes the importance of organization, responsibility and care that is required in the raising of a multitude of pets. The game takes place in sunny, happy-go-lucky Green Town where you assist Mama/Mom (who looks like a younger version of Cooking Mama) in running the local pet shop through shopping, chores, and befriending the other people of the town.

While Taito is primarily marketing this title towards young children…

Gamertell Review: Pet Shop Monogatari DS for DS

Title: Pet Shop Monogatari DSPrice: $48.90System: Nintendo DSRelease Date: July 8, 2008Publisher (Developer): Taito (Dream Age Collection)ESRB Rating: Everyone Pros: Simple controls, huge selection of pets to discover, variety of items to accessorize pets, many locations to explore, not having to clean any pet danderCons: Simple game play may become repetitive, trial and error pet catching can become frustrating, lack of ability to actually pet animalsOverall Score: One thumb up, one thumb sideways; 88/100; B+; ***1/2 out of five

With Taito’s infamous Mama making the leap from cooking (Cooking Mama) into gardening (Gardening Mama), it was only a matter of time before Mama would spread her bountiful cheerfulness and optimism into yet another game. Pet Shop Monogatari DS (PSMDS) revolves around the newly opened pet shop in Greentown where you, the player, and Mama are in charge.

Gamertell Review: Pop Cutie! Street Fashion Simulation for DS

Title: Pop Cutie! Street Fashion SimulationPrice: $29.99System(s): DSRelease Date: October 6, 2008Publisher (Developer): Koei (Koei)ESRB Rating: “Everyone” for alcohol reference and mild suggestive themesPros: Lots of outfit customization options, interesting premise, lots of replay value, interesting NPCsCons: Customers (and employees) can be impatient and stupid, there is a noticeable slow down when an area is heavily populated.Overall Score: Two thumbs up, 95/100, A, **** 1/2 out of 5

Pop Cutie! Street Fashion Simulation is a hidden gem. It didn’t arrive on the DS with a huge fanfare, and appears fairly unassuming, but is really a wonderful way to spend a day. It combines a store management simulation with a keyword collection aspect that will keep players’ attention even after they’ve beaten the game and become the top designer.

Don’t be fooled by its appearance and title. Pop Cutie may look and sound like a game for girls, but once you start playing, you’ll see it is a gender neutral simulation that anyone can enjoy. I highly recommend simulation fans take a chance on Koei’s fashion designer game.

Populous DS includes the Nintendo age

A recent revelation in the development of Populous DS introduces a brand new culture only available in the forthcoming DS version. It seemed this technologically advanced race, known as the Bit-plane civilization in the game, worshiped the accomplishments of the acclaimed developer/publisher Nintendo. It wasn’t enough to keep this love inside, as this society worked hard to construct great buildings in the images of Nintendo systems across the ages.

Populous DS should be arriving by the end of 2008, as the Japanese version will be released February 21, 2008. It is a civilization simulation brought to gamers by EA. The game begins with a new world, a blank slate, and the players can then develop two different societies there. The societies can develop different cultures and also interact with each other with interesting results. So far the introduced civilizations include the Bit-plane, Persians, dragons, cavemen, undead and Martians. I’m sure ordinary humans are probably included as well.

Our House breaking ground on the Wii

In an interesting turn of events, Majesco Games has announced that it is working with Budcat Creations to bring Our House to the Wii in 2008. Our House seems tailor made for fans of shows like Flip This House and Property Ladder. The game gives players the opportunity to multi-task and build on their innate more »
