The thing about being the Single Mac Gamer is that you spend quite a bit of time looking into the past. A couple weeks ago, I recapped and updated a list of my favorite one hit Mac gaming wonders from years past. Perhaps some of you went out these games yourselves. I hope that went well for you. Either way, here are some more you may recall with a sigh, a smile, and some thoughts of what could’ve been.

When you hear the term “one hit wonder,” you undoubtedly think of Ebn-Ozn. Makes perfect sense. I, on the other hand, think of Squeegee Software. Bands, after all, aren’t the only groups of hard working individuals who never receive that follow-up phone call after one mostly, moderately, somewhat successful date. The Single Mac Gamer, therefore, opens his little black book to revisit (and update) my list of Top 10 Mac Gaming One Hit Wonders.

When you think of hardcore gaming action, do you also think of men in skirts and sandals parading around on elephants? Well, you’re not alone, surprisingly. When I posted an article in January of 2009 that Feral would be bringing Rome: Total War to the Macintosh, it was greeted by comments of excitement as the estimated release date approached. And passed. And approached again. And passed again. And again. And again. And again. But it works like this sometimes.

About a week ago, I left Macworld Expo feeling good about the state of gaming on the Macintosh. I mean, can I really hold game publishers responsible for not making the trek out to San Francisco? Hardly any developers were there this year, but the expo still managed to pack in the faithful. I think many of the companies who took this year off will return in January 2011. But for now, screw them. Let’s talk about one of the companies that did bother to show up for Macworld Expo: Telltale Games.
