Two execs leave EA Tiburon

There are huge changes going on EA Tiburon, the studio responsible for developing Madden NFL.

Madden NFL creative director Ian Cummings and EA Sports Chief Technology Officer Richard Wifall have both tendered their resignations. Cummings confirmed his departure on the official Madden blog. He had worked at EA for 11 years. Cummings’ blog said he decided to “seek opportunities elsewhere.” Sites including Joystiq are reporting that those opportunities will take Cummings to Row Sham Bow, a new social game studio started by former EA Tiburon General Manager Phillip Holt.

Oklahoma law makes deceased person’s social media account part of their estate

One of the challenges in making laws is keeping up with technology. An Oklahoma law recently passed addresses a question many likely haven’t considered. What happens to our social media accounts after we’ve gone to that great Facebook update in the sky? In Oklahoma, thanks to a law authored by former state Rep. Ryan Kiesel (D-Seminole), a person’s intellectual party is part of their estate. Thus whoever is in charge of wrapping up their estate gains the right to access those accounts.

EA Sports announces Facebook version of Madden Football

Casual games on Facebook, including Farmville and Mafia Wars, are an industry expected to make more than $2 billion by 2012, according to ThinkEquity LLC analyst Atul Bagga. Electronic Arts didn’t become one of the biggest companies in videogames by letting that kind of money get away. EA Sports President Peter Moore told Bloomberg Television that the company will bring a stripped down version of its popular Madden NFL series to Facebook.

Facebook to get a bit more Civilized in 2010 thanks to Sid Meier

Sid Meier’s Civilization , the acclaimed strategy series that began on PC, keeps expanding its horizons. In 2008, it unleashed a horde of console generals in Civilization Revolution. Now the series seeks to conquer social media with Civilization Network, a title game creator Sid Meier revealed (appropriately enough) on a Facebook page for the new product.

Jack Thompson suing Facebook to remove users who hate him

Being disbarred by the state of Florida hasn’t stopped Jack Thompson from making enemies, headlines or legal trouble. His latest effort is a lawsuit against social networking mainstay Facebook, claiming the site should remove comments threatening Thompson.

Facebook has numerous groups for people galvanized by a single cause and many of them are anti-Thompson. Some include Stop Jack Thompson and Yes Jack Thompson, I Play Violent Video Games And Am Not a Psychopath.
