EA thinks it sold 5 million copies of Battlefield 3
Electronic Arts is very pleased with the performance of Battlefield 3. Today, the publisher announced Battlefield 3 has sold five million units around the world. This number is based on EA’s “internal estimates”, so BF3 may have sold more or less than that. EA’s estimates have also led the company to believe BF3 is now the fastest selling game in the company’s history.
Batman: Arkham City is unsurprisingly successful
Guess what? Batman: Arkham City is a huge hit. The game has been available for a week and the sales numbers are already here. According to Warner Bros. 4.6 million units of Arkham City have been shipped around the world so far. Keep in mind shipped does not mean sold to customers. If actual sold units is what your’e after, the L.A. Times says two million copies of the game have been sold since last Tuesday. Those aren’t record breaking numbers, but it’s still darn good.
Team Bondi faces an uncertain future
It’s unclear whether Team Bondi, the development team behind the stellar L.A. Noire, will continue to exist in its current state. A report from Develop states that Team Bondi’s assets and intellectual properties have been sold to a production studio named Kennedy Miller Mitchell.
THQ Wireless has been sold
In a move that further exemplifies THQ’s new direction, the company has sold its wireless division to a company called 24MAS. THQ mentioned in its last financial report that it is going to concentrate more on core titles, while backing away from smaller aspects of the business. In this case, THQ Wireless dealt with games that could not take advantage of the current boom in smartphone gaming.
UK PS3 sales reach 1 million
PS3 sales have picked up the pace in the UK and, for the last four weeks, has outsold the Xbox 360. Sony has also confirmed to Market for Home Computing and Video Games (MCV), a leading British industry journal, that PS3 has gone past the 1 million-sales milestone in the UK and at a rate faster than its antecedent console, the PS2…
