Sonic Generations demo now available on Xbox Live and PSN

Fans have been begging Sega for a real Sonic game for a long time now. No swords, no Werehogs, just good ol’ classic Sonic. Sega’s latest effort, Sonic Generations, appears as though the company is listening to the fans this time. If you want to give the game a try right now, go download the demo on Xbox Live or PSN. The demo only lasts for 20 days.

Sonic now charges your Wii remotes

There was a time when Sonic was the anti-Nintendo mascot. Sonic was the super cool bad boy hedgehog that played by his own rules. Mario was depicted as a lame character with no personality. Sega fought tooth and nail with Nintendo. There was even a marketing campaign that bred the famous slogan “Genesis does what Nintendon’t.” It’s so ironic now seeing Sonic in Nintendo games. It’s even more ironic for Sonic to make sure your controllers have enough power to play those Nintendo games.

Gamertell Review: Sonic the Hedgehog 4, Episode 1

Gamers new to Sonic may try this out and wonder what all the fuss is about. I’m not sure this is for them, even though it’s more enjoyable than the other recent Sonic incarnations we’ve seen. I can’t tell younger gamers whether they should start here or just go with the original Sonic games on the Virtual Console. But fans of the series won’t want to miss this. By going back to the basics, Sega has delivered the best Sonic game of this generation of consoles.

Gamertell Review: Sonic Adventure for Xbox Live

Oh no! Eggman (better known as Dr. Robotnic) is once again after the chaos emeralds, this time to charge up an ancient evil creature Master Emerald. It’s up to Sonic and his buddies to put a stop to him and recover all the emeralds.

Sonic Adventure is a remake of a original game for Dreamcast. You can play as Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, and Amy, along with a few others. Each character is unlockable and has their own unique storyline to play through.

Sega is getting rid of poor Sonic games

Sonic 4 is Sega’s answer to a recent string of not so good Sonic games. Who could forget the Werehog from Sonic Unleashed? Or how about Shadow the Hedgehog? These are the kinds games Sega wants to forget about. From here on out, Sega will be blacklisting all Sonic related games that don’t meet Sega’s standards.

Close Up: Sonic the Hedgehog Wacky Wobbler bobble-head figure (with photos)

Gamertell takes a close-up look at the Sonic the Hedgehog Wacky Wobbler bobble-head figure by Funko, complete with a close-up photo gallery.

Like many bobble-heads, Sonic has a head that is mounted to the body with a spring between so that it has the traditional bobbling head effect. The all plastic (PVC) figure is a bit more hefty and a lot less quiet than the hollow shell wobblers you might find for your dashboard at a cheap-o dollar store.

Sonic and Knuckles get their own R/C cars

Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing has inspired it’s own line of radio controlled racers. Yes, you can now buy the game and toys so you can race all the time with your favorite characters. Well, provided you have the $24.99 necessary to buy one of the toys…

Look like Sonic by preordering Sonic Colors

We all know you’re hesistant about loving and accepting Sonic Colors for the DS and Wii. Recent Sonic games have burned many players. But Sega is hoping to win the skeptical over with an outlandish accessory that you can only get if you splurge and preorder the game – a Sonic hat.

Yes, if you take the time to preorder a copy of either version of Sonic Colors, you will receive a hat which will turn your head into the head of Sonic the Hedgehog. Freakishly large eyeballs aren’t included, of course. With it, you’re a blue sweatshirt, pair of blue sweatpants, pair of red sneakers and pair of white gloves away from a full Sonic costume.

You don’t get the hat right away though. You have to wait until you pick up your game in December…

Sonic returns in Sega’s new game for Kinect: Sonic Free Riders

During the past E3, Microsoft unveiled its new motion controller called Kinect. Kinect allows full body interaction with video games though a camera that captures body movement in 3D. Microsoft presented a couple of titles scheduled for the launch of Kinect, but some other developers are already working on their own motion controlled games.

Sega presented a racing game called Sonic Free Riders, where characters from the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise battle each other in a hoverboard race. Players can choose between six characters including Sonic, Tails and Knuckles and each one has a different board with different abilities.

E3 2010: Game character statues photo gallery

It seems that as much as gamers love game characters, game companies love to make giant statues of their game characters. And, of course, people love to pose with them (when allowed to get close enough, of course).

E3 2010, as happens each year, included its own army of game character statues adorning many of the big-name game companies’ booths.

Check out the E3 Game Character Statues Photo Gallery for a super-sized Pac-Man, the new Tron light cycle, a whole squad of Halo characters, the Toy Story gang, Mario, Sonic, little LEGO guys and more.
