Scandalous Soul Calibur V Voldo ad isn’t real
So, how about that NSFW Soul Calibur V ad? It’s a known fact that sexism is alive and well when it comes to fighting games. The female character appear in the skimpiest outfits possible, even though they’re usually participating in deathmatches, more often than not with deadly weapons. Soul Calibur is no exception, and through more »
How To: A modern guide to Sega’s Dreamcast
In light of this year’s Dreamcast anniversary I’ve decided to write up a guide for many of you who either are just diving into Dreamcast or rejoining the Orange Swirl Society.
I’ll try to cover as many aspects as I can about the system but if I miss some burning question, feel free to ask in the comments below and I’ll do my best to answer them.
09/09/09: Taking some time to remember the Dreamcast
On September 9. 1999, I remember sitting with my friends talking about whether or not we would be getting a Dreamcast. I boldly claimed, “No!” among a sea of yes-es and also claimed the system would never make it. No, I wasn’t a prophet embedded with the knowledge that the Dreamcast really wouldn’t make it more »
Namco Bandai at E3 2009
We are only a couple of days away from the madness of E3, so you know what that means… press releases, teaser trailers and rumor-baiting galore! Just the other day, I received word from Namco Bandai about their featured games at the show, to include Tekken 6, Dead to Rights: Retribution, SOULCALIBUR: Broken Destiny and Active Life: Extreme Challenge. The company is really covering its bases this year – with stuff all along the fabled hardcore-to-casual spectrum. We’ve got fighting, action and an exercise game (it’s totally a genre now), covering most of the major platforms.
Triad Toys to release 12-inch Taki Spring 2009
All you Taki fans out there can finally rejoice because Triad Toys will be releasing a 12 inch model of this vivacious Soul Calibur vixen on March 27, 2009. And she’s dressed appropriately enough to take home to mom.
Here are some details about this highly anticipated figure as stated on the Triad Toys site:
- New Triad Toys Otaku 1.2 body with over 25 points of articulation, magnetized feet and full metal hips
- Ultra-realistic head with Saran hair and hand-painted head
- Ultra-detailed Rekki-Maru and Mekki-Maru daggers, detailed clothing, weapons and body armor
- Features the new Triad Bullet-Time action figure stand
I’m not too sure what it means for a figure to have an “Otaku 1.2 body” but, judging from the preliminary images, it looks like it may mean more than just being able to…
New figures of buxom beauties Ivy, Morrigan coming Fall 2008
Making the bounding leap from screen to shelf, Soul Calibur 3‘s Ivy and Darkstalkers‘ Morrigan are being produced as fine quality PVC models of their polygonal counterparts. For such perfection, however, buyers should not only be willing to sell their souls to these sirens, but also relinquish some seriously hard earned moolah.

Soul Calibur IV news from E3
Namco Bandai discussed the marketing plan for Soul Calibur IV at E3, as well as mentioning that the Xbox 360 and PS3 game has gone gold. The latest title, which will feature three Star Wars characters (Yoda, Darth Vader and Darth Vader’s secret apprentice) and special characters from Japanese manga artists, will be released July 29, 2008 in normal ($59.99) and premium ($79.99) editions.
The first portion of the Soul Calibur IV marketing plan is a huge ad campaign. There will be 15 and 30 second commercials on cable stations in the US and Canada during July and August, 2008. There will also be ads online and in magazines, and supposedly retail partnerships.
