Nintendo Downloads for December 6, 2010

This week’s Nintendo Downloads update is packed with new games. There are three new WiiWare games, two new-to-Wii Virtual Console games and three new DSiWare games. That’s a whopping eight games for you to look over when you get home, which means there should be at least one item worth your time.

If all else fails, at least log into the Wii Shop Channel to pick up the newest WiiWare game. It’s for Fluidity, which also happens to be one of the new Wii releases this week. Like all WiiWare demos, it’s available for a limited time, so make sure you grab it before it’s gone. Because once the demo is on your SD card or Wii, it’s yours forever…

Dragon’s Lair Trilogy brings the series to the Wii

The Wii’s going to be getting some classic games in the third quarter of 2010, when Dragon’s Lair Trilogy debuts. Destineer Games is going to be putting Dragon’s Lair, Space Ace and Dragon’s Lair II on one disc with lots of special features like a watch mode so you can see the story without actually playing, standard and widescreen presentations. So old fans and people who’ve never heard of Dragon’s Lair before can pick up the collection and experience it…

Gamertell Review: Space Ace for iPhone, iPod Touch

If you were alive and plunking quarters in the early 1980s, then you completely understand laserdisc games. They were the most expensive arcade games of the time, charging a dollar or more when the next priciest game was 50 cents or less. And there was always a line at the cabinet.

If not, then they are an oddity of the times. A temporarily fascinating diversion of the time that was over priced, over hyped and too hard to play. (And, by the way, screw you.)

It doesn’t really matter where you fall on that spectrum since laserdisc games were an amazing amalgam of animation and video gaming that was not only way ahead of its time but a historical work of gaming art.
