The fine folks at Kairosoft are at it again with another game in its “Story” series. Epic Astro Story was recently released in the Android Market for $4.99. It has all the familiar trappings you’d expect from a Kairosoft game. Your job is to build a colony in space and turn it into a tourism hot spot. However, there is one thing Epic Astro Story has that no other Kairosoft game can claim – battles.

NASA MMO funding off to a good start

You may not have known this, but there is an official NASA MMO in the works. It’s still very early in development and is being funded through a Kickstarter campaign. Kickstarter is a site in which individuals can request financial donations that will go towards the project they’re trying to get off the ground. In regards to Astronaut: Moon, Mars and Beyond, over 500 backers have donated over $30,200 to the project.

E3 2010: Hands-on with Jumpgate Evolution

The biggest problem with Jumpgate Evolution isn’t that it almost directly competes with EVE Online. Instead, the title’s problems stem from being in development for so long. There are times where this writer was doubtful he would ever see it completed. Seeing it at E3 2009 was like a breath of fresh air but even more »

NASA hoping to recruit new talent with Astronaut: Moon, Mars and Beyond

In an effort to attract new and younger talent to its ranks, NASA has come up with a new strategy: Using video games to give people a chance to get a glimpse of outer space.

NASA believes that there are many teenagers who have the talent for a successful career but probably have never been in contact with the work that is actually done there. That is why they are joining forces with three different developers: Virtual Heroes (America’s Army), Project Whitecard and Wisdom Tools.

Using NASA’s knowledge and technical expertise the developers are working on a massively multiplayer online game (MMOG) that will allow players to engage in space exploration in a more realistic fashion. Astronaut: Mars, Moon and Beyond will allow players to visit Mars and see Spirit and Opportunity going about their business or see the Moon and look at the footsteps of astronauts (and all the gear they left there).

Microsoft to aid users unable to take advantage of “New Xbox Experience”

Microsoft is set to unveil its “New Xbox Experience” to eager 360 owners on November 19, 2008. This update is set to revamp the 360′s entire dashboard and introduce “avatars,” which are characters that players can customize to suit their own whims.

This “new experience” will come at a cost of 128 MB of hard drive space; while this may not be a problem for 360 owners who have purchased sufficient memory sources, there remains a large amount of individuals who have not. For these people, Microsoft has promised to come to their aid…

Microsoft to allow games to require hard drive space for MMOs

After months of denials, Microsoft finally admitted that it will allow game developers to require a hard drive for some consoles games. The info was essentially let loose at GameFest Microsoft Game Technology Conference earlier last week (August 13-1, 2007) in Seattle, WA, by a Microsoft rep who said:

“Feel free to require 30GB for your game. That’s just going to make your potential audience a lot smaller.”

Microsoft has basically lifted the hard drive space restriction for MMO developers, potentially meaning that the Xbox 360 versions of games can be nearly identical to PC versions. Xbox Live games will still be capped at 150 MB though no mention was made…
