The PS3 is about to get a whole lot louder

The PS3 more than a gaming console. Sony tells us it’s the console that does everything. Today Sony can add its own surround sound system to the growing list of PS3 features. The PS3 Surround Sound System is coming out next week in the United States and Canada. It will cost $179.99 and is compatible with every PS3 model ever created.

Gamertell Interview: Polk Audio’s Mark Suskind talks about the HitMaster monitor

Gamertell recently spoke with Mark Suskind, Polk Audio’s Vice President of Product Line Management about the company’s new HitMaster stage style audio monitor.

The HitMaster is being marketed as a gaming accessory that will add an extra element of realism to music games including Guitar Hero and Rock Band.

Essentially a complex speaker system in one box, the HitMaster is built much like those floor monitors musicians use to monitor their performance on stage.

“There’s been something like 45 million copies of Rock Band and Guitar Hero games sold… and most people are using the progressively poor quality flat-screen sound or poor PC audio,” said Suskind. “We wanted to let people have the total experience when playing these games and feel like you are on stage. This helps create that experience.”

CES 2010: dreamGear to offer Sesame Street DSi, MP3 accessories

Game accessories maker, dreamGear, has announced that it plans to release “a line of accessories for the Nintendo DSi portable gaming system” (according to the company’s press release) based on Sesame Workshop.

The specific DSI products will be announced during the International CES 2010 later this week (January 7 through 10, 2010). The rest of the release describes other accessories based on its i.Sound line including character earbuds, earphones and speakers for iPod, iPhone and other MP3 players.

Eleventh Electronic Gaming Summit details revealed

The 1up network has just announced the lineup of speakers for the 11th annual Electronic Gaming Summit, to be held May 19-21, 2008 in Napa, California. The event is oriented towards executives and industry leaders, with a focus on networking and sharing ideas about the business and culture of videogames.
