Capcom points to Capcom Mobile in MaXplosion fiasco
Capcom Mobile’s rip-off of ‘Splosion Man in the form of MaXplosion has angered the videogame community. Twisted Pixel is upset about the game, but refuses to pursue any kind of legal action against Capcom. Capcom has remained silent about the situation until today when it released a statement to gaming outlets expressing its collective feelings about what has transpired over the past few days.
Twisted Pixel will not go after Capcom for MaXplosion
Yesterday (January 11, 2011) we told you about a little game Capcom developed called MaXplosion. MaXplosion takes so much from Twisted Pixel’s game ‘Splosion Man, some consider it to be a complete rip-off. Twisted Pixel’s CEO wasn’t happy upon learning about MaXplosion and noted that Capcom originally turned down Twisted Pixel’s pitch to publish ‘Splosion Man.

They say imitation is the highest form of flattery. This is all too true in the videogame industry. Usually when a certain game explodes in popularity i.e. Grand Theft Auto, we see a lot of other games being released that was inspired by it. Some of those games can stand on their own, and others just fall off the radar. In Capcom’s case, it recently released an iOS game called MaXplosion that is strikingly similar to Twisted Pixel’s ‘Splosion Man.

Yesterday, Sony announced a one-week sale that will take place on PSN. Sony is discounting some games by 50% in order to take advantage of all the Black Friday shenanigans that will be going down this week. Not ones to be left out in the cold, Microsoft has announced its own series of Xbox 360, XBLA and Zune movie deals that are also set for November 23-29.
‘Splosion Man now supports avatar awards
Splosion Man was one of the shining jewels in the Xbox 360′s summer of arcade festivities earlier this year (2009). It involved the simple concept of exploding your character through platform-heavy levels to end the stage. Splosion Man is also one of the first games to give awards that can be used by your Xbox 360 avatar.
Twisted Pixel sent a press release about a patch for Splosion Man that adds avatar awards in the form of clothing and fixes some multiplayer issues.
