Square Enix distributing digital manga in US and France
Square Enix is taking a chance on digital manga. It’s going to be using its Square Enix Members site to help promote digital manga releases. The North American and French digital manga stores aren’t ready yet though – their virtual doors don’t open until Fall 2010. Square Enix did decided that Comic-Con International is the perfect time to hype up the service and allow people to see what it will be like.
If you’re at Comic-Con International, you’ll get to test it out firsthand. Square Enix’s booth number is 3829, right near Funimation and not too far from Konami. There are machines there where you can sample some of the digital manga Square Enix will be bringing to North America.
If you aren’t at Comic-Con International, don’t feel too left out. You can sample some free digital manga too…
Square Enix Members Twitter mentions Final Fantasy V and VI DS
Square Enix Japan often uses its Square Enix Members Twitter account to educate, tease and answer questions from fans. It can often be a surprising source of additional information on the company’s games, if you pay attention. For example, the subject of Final Fantasy V, Final Fantasy VI, Seiken Densetsu 3 and Ever Heart Odyssey all came up recently. Fans asked Square Enix questions, and responded.
The question directed at Square Enix Final Fantasy V and VI for the DS yielded an interesting response. Surprisingly, Square Enix didn’t just say “no comment” when it answered…

Square Enix Members can play in the Game Zone
It was an ordinary day. I was checking a site to add as a link to another story on Gamertell, when an unusual icon at the Square Enix Members site caught my eye. “Game Zone is now open?” I wondered, though not aloud as I was still at work and didn’t want to attract interest. I clicked through to find four mini-games, all promoting Final Fantasy Fables: Chocobo’s Dungeon.
There are four flash games available, and all are pretty similar to the mini-games found in Final Fantasy Fables: Chocobo Tales, which was released on the DS a while back. There’s Chocobo’s Snowboard Glide, Chocobo Flight, Chocobo’s Balancing Act and Chocobo’s Classmate. All games use the mouse, and have happy perky Chocobo themes playing in the background.
The World Ends with You comic is complete
“Like a bolt from the blue, time for the Reaper Review!”
No, not really. But that whole speech is so catchy. I’m sure I misquoted, but moving on – the The World Ends with You section on the Square Enix Members page has had another major update. The latest, and final, chapter in the The World Ends with You manga by Shiro Amano is now translated and online.
Once again, the manga will have special, colored spots which can be clicked to unlock exclusive The World Ends with You ringtones. The three tracks this time around are “Twister,” “Someday” and “Imprinting.” Like before, you have to be a Squenix member to have access to the comic and tones. Its free to join up though, so go do it.
Become a Square Enix Member – get The World Ends with You ringtones
The Square Enix Members site has a pretty big update filled with The World Ends with You goodness. Parts 2 and 3 of the Creator’s Roundtable are both up, there’s an In-Store video of the title and the first chapter of the The World Ends with You manga by Shiro Amano. The best part of the update is the comic, because by clicking on certain colored comic panels, you can unlock ringtones of songs from the game.
Dust off your Members Only jacket for this Square Enix site
The official Square Enix Member site is now open. So far the site is a bit sparse, but the content there is still something special. So far there are only sections online for Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII, The World Ends with You and Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Ring of Fates. There are wallpapers, contests, videos, a few little blog decorations, articles, a contest and a blog.
