10 Games your mother (or grandmother) would love

Mother’s Day is this Sunday (May 9, 2010), and there’s just enough time to get out there and pick something special up for your mother, grandmother or wife. While cards and flowers are nice, a game is just as thoughtful – especially since it’ll last longer. So in honor of the forthcoming special occasion, I’ve put together a brief list of games which might appeal to them and work well as gifts.

Now you’re probably asking how I would know a mother, or grandmother, would love these games. Well, I have done extensive research (I asked my mother and my mother’s friends – some of whom are grandmothers) what games they love. Yes, all mothers are unique and special with their own tastes, but there’s still a good chance that yours might have similar tastes…

Cheer We Go Squishy Tank!

No, that isn’t some kind of secret, spy code. (Or is it?) It’s the names of Natsume’s two newest DS games, Cheer We Go and Squishy Tank. Natsume has just announced both games will be budget priced at $19.99 and will both be out in March 23, 2010.

While they’re launching on the same day, Squishy Tank and Cheer We Go are from two different genres. Squishy Tank is a sort of battle puzzle game. You have a bunch of cute, colored blocks with faces on the touch screen, and a fleet of white, squishy tanks on the top screen. You must keep making matches to successfully beat puzzles, win battles and advance the story. You also get to unlock Squishy Tank cartoons, mini-games and tank accessories.

Cheer We Go, on the other hand, is a cheerleading simulation…

E3 2009: Natsume to go Harvest Moon crazy

Natsume’s betting on one of its most popular and established series this year at E3 2009, Harvest Moon. Of the ten games being shown off, four are either entries in or spin-offs of the farming simulation. I guess it knows what its fans really want. The games are all Nintendo specific though, so Sony fans won’t be able to enjoy that virtual farming experience.

That isn’t all the company plans to show off though. It also is bringing a strategic RPG for the PSP, a few animal watching simulations, a cheerleading game, a tank puzzle title and a fishing simulation along as well. Since Natsume is known for sim games, it should come as no surprise that over half of the games presented can fall into that category.

Let’s see what they’ll have for us…
