LucasArts lays off approximately 85 employees
LucasArts has completed a round of extensive layoffs. The layoffs are the result of a reorganizing process in order to strengthen its internal studio. Among those let go are former developers on Star Wars: The Force Unleashed II.

Unlike the bundled deals, these single games will only be on sale for 24 hours. Most of the games are action oriented, but they’ve been discounted up to 75%. For all you Mac owners out there, the only games that are Mac compatible are Hearts of Iron and City of Heroes: Architect Edition. On the other hand, both of these games are eligible for SteamPlay.
PhoneSaber upgrades and transforms to Lightsaber Unleashed
Freebies are awesome, especially when they are inspired by a popular series. TheMacBox has just updated its free lightsaber iPhone/iPod Touch program PhoneSaber and given it a catchy new moniker – Lightsaber Unleashed. The name change comes from the fact that the program is now an official Star Wars app and includes Star Wars: The Force Unleashed lightsabers, characters and sounds.
There’s a few extra goodies in the latest update, aside from the name change and The Force Unleashed extras added. The layout of the program has been changed. Dueling music has also been added, and the screen will flash if your lightsaber lands a hit, so it should make fake lightsaber battles among friends a bit more interesting. Unleash the force September 16, 2008
LucasArts is hard at work creating the latest Star Wars next gen game, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed. It will be released on the DS, PS2, PS3, PSP, Wii and Xbox 360 on September 16, 2008, in North America. The Asian and Australian version will follow shortly after on September 17, and once again Europeans will receive the game last on September 19.
