The latest sales estimates on Star Wars: The Old Republic (SWtOR) are at three hundred million units – that’s the population of the United States. Compare that number to the roughly 11 million active players of the most successful MMO game so far, World of Warcraft, to get an idea of what an Alderaan-shattering amount of success is expected here.

EA announces Star Wars: The Old Republic standard, digital deluxe and collector’s editions
Anyone waiting for the December release of Star Wars: The Old Republic will have a few different variations to choose from. As expected, EA is going to try and get players to part with more money by offering not only a standard edition that will just include the Windows game, but also a special Origin.com edition and a Collector’s edition. Pre-ordering is probably a good idea, since anyone who pre-orders will get Early Game Access. E3 2011: Star Wars Kinect first impressions
Microsoft has a good chunk of its Kinect all-star lineup playable at E3, and the lines to get in are huge. While some of us are still questioning when we’ll be able to buy an exceptionally large HDTV or even a 3DTV, we learn there is another television technology on the way. Researchers from the University of Arizona have developed 3D holographic technology that is expected to be ready in consumer devices by 2017.
Star Wars movies returning to theaters in 3D beginning 2012
Lucasfilm Ltd. and Twentieth Century Fox film studios announced earlier this week that 3D versions of all six Star Wars movies will be released in theaters beginning 2012.
The companies will release the 3D films according to the story’s chronology, so the 1999 film Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace will be shown in theaters first (in 2012) even though it was the fourth film released. It’s not clear whether the original versions of the films or the revamped “Special” versions will get the 3D treatment. Some reports indicate one film will be released each year following Phantom Menace.
