NBA player tries competitive StarCraft during lockout
Pro basketball players are looking for other means of income during the NBA lockout. Several are making deals to play overseas. Utah Jazz forward Gordon Hayward is going pro in a different game, StarCraft II Hayward has joined the IGN Pro League and will play in the IPL Origins event in Atlantic City Oct. 6-9. He will also serve as a spokesperson for the event. Hayward’s already paying dividends in that department. CBS Sports and Yahoo are among the news outlets that have picked up the story.
GameStop’s June 1 – 7, 2011 ad discounts select EA and computer games
GameStop’s first sale ad for June is out, and there are actually a few promising deals for people willing to stop by between June 1-7, 2011. There are discounts on some popular games from EA, a few Windows and Mac games are reduced, there’s a uDraw Tablet deal and there’s even a pretty good iTunes gift card promotion. It’s a good week to save money while picking up something nice to amuse yourself.

Blizzard jokes about World of Warcraft, StarCraft and Diablo 3 for April Fools’
Blizzard has gone all out with it’s April 1, 2011 pranks today. If you’ve got access to the internet, then you have got to visit the special Diablo III, StarCraft: Motion Overdrive and World of Warcraft websites it has put up today. Even if you don’t play the games, you’ll still appreciate the efforts the company went to in an attempt to make people smile.

Battle.net drops banhammer on StarCraft II cheaters
Online cheaters, will you never change your evil ways?
Blizzard announced deploying the BanHammer (or BanLaser, as Blizzard calls it) on an undisclosed amount of Battle.net users for StarCraft II infractions. Blizzard’s announcement reminds those who cheat and hack that it’s not only dishonest but can cause stability problems for the entire network. The StarCraft end user license agreement allows Blizzard to permanently ban anyone caught cheating.
Odd top ten co-op game list draws criticism
Gameranx recently released its Top 10 list for best co-op games, to mostly jeers in the comments.
As it happens, I’ve played many of these titles and I tend to agree with the comments and not so much with the list…
Blizzcon 2011 will be held October 21 – 22, 2011
Diablo, StarCraft and World of Warcraft better save the dates October 21-22, 2011. Blizzard’s going to be holding the sixth ever Blizzcon then. Of course, saving the date won’t do much good if you can’t get tickets. Since the ticket sale date hasn’t been announced yet, it doesn’t hurt to circle those dates on your calendar.
As usual, Blizzcon 2011 will be held in Anaheim, California at the Anaheim Convention Centre…
World of Starcraft in the works….er, sorta
No, it’s not April Fools’ Day yet. That is a screenshot you see of the long-awaited MMO World of StarCraft, which is meant to take place in the StarCraft universe. Oh, but there’s still a catch, see. This game is not made by Blizzard. Rather, it’s designed by a group of loyal fans.

University of Florida offers class based on Starcraft
Anyone who has played a strategy game or worked with teammates in a shooter to capture an objective knows video games require serious brainpower. The theory behind the University of Florida’s EME-2040: 21st Century Skills in Starcraft course is that players learn valuable life skills including problem solving and resource management.
PlayStation Store Comics Update: (August 25 to 31, 2010)
This week’s featured free comic is Starcraft #1. The comic series follows a group of outlaws called “The War Pigs,” group of convicted criminals each serving a life or death sentence. Because each possessed unique talents and expertise the Terran Confederacy military program created the “War Pigs” to take on dangerous missions. But the missions are far from over. Former captain Cole Hickson reunites the group for a new mission, the assassination of Jim Raynor. Follow the group on their next mission this week in the PlayStation Comic Store.
